TANIT Tech Elder recently joined Ismael Marquina, secretary of the Agricultural Association of Los Molinos and La Grama as part of our first soil sampling activities in the La Libertad region of Peru. The Agricultural Association is currently working on innovative ways to develop Trichoderma fungi, which can help combat agricultural pests and diseases like Panama disease. The field work performed by Elder and the samples now being assessed will help provide a data baseline for the improved sustainable production of Gros Michel bananas, passion fruit, and more. TANIT looks forward to supporting Ismael and the association in 2025 as we work together to make regenerative agriculture the global norm. #RegenerativeAgriculture #ClimateSmartFarming #sustainability #InnovationInAgriculture #Biodiversity #TANIT #IntegratedTrophicDesign

In 2025, we plan to celebrate March 1 as the International Day of the Farmer. And we'd like your help to help plan. Please indicate in the comments what activities you could envision would serve to bring attention to the fabulous work farmers do every day to feed us. You can also mention your region and if you'd also like to play a role. We will be collecting ideas and offering feedback through January so please share your thoughts as to how we can shape the day together. And have a happy new year!

A groundbreaking scientific discovery reveals that even closely related plants can play distinct and complementary roles within an ecosystem. This challenges the long-held belief that a plant's ecological role is solely tied to its phylogenetic diversity (how distantly related it is evolutionarily). It also dispels the assumption that ecosystems dominated by closely related plants may lack resilience due to competition for resources. Instead, the findings show that evolutionarily similar species can coexist, collaborate, and contribute to ecosystems in surprisingly diverse and unexpected ways. At TANIT, we bring these ecological principles to life through our Integrated Trophic Design (ITD) approach. ITD reimagines farming by integrating biodiversity with advanced agricultural practices. This innovative system fosters ecological balance, boosts productivity, and aligns farming with nature’s inherent wisdom.

Interested to see what we measure in the soil when we first start working with a new farmer who joins our network? Yesterday we published the baseline data points we collect in the field. Take a look: https://lnkd.in/gH9Cz7M3 We are thorough at this step because we offer complete transparency for bulk buyers of the exotic produce that comes through the TANIT synthetic-free food chain. This data helps them meet their SDG reporting requirements come 2025, while offering their customers peace of mind that they are helping regenerate fields around the world with their purchase. It's a process step made possible thanks to our global network of #TANIT Techs engaged for the wellbeing of the earth and the farmers who work it.

Did you know that the principles shaping the future of sustainable agriculture on land are inspired by the rhythms of the sea? Nature’s ecosystems—whether beneath the water’s surface or on land—thrive through the interconnected relationships between species. By learning from these natural dynamics, we can transform the way we approach food production and farming. At the heart of this transformation are integrated trophic systems. These systems are designed to mirror the relationships between organisms, creating a balance that enhances #productivity, #biodiversity, and #sustainability. In marine environments, multi-trophic aquaculture exemplifies this approach by combining species such as seaweed, shellfish, and fish. Each plays a distinct role within the ecosystem, supporting the health and stability of the whole. On land, agricultural practices follow similar principles. Plants and pollinators are integrated within interdependent networks, where each component contributes uniquely. The common thread between these aquatic or terrestrial design systems is their ability to emulate the dynamics of natural #ecosystems. When designed based on data pooled from multiple sources over decades of observation and research, they can transform the farming process into a more efficient, regenerative, and sustainable practice maximizing productivity while preserving ecological balance. At TANIT, we are committed to deepening humanity’s understanding of the intricate webs of life, with a focus on creating systems that honor and sustain the interconnectedness of nature.

The Future of Farming: Nature & Technology Working Together. As we face growing challenges in food security, climate change, and ecosystem preservation, the need for agriculture to evolve has never been clearer. Monoculture farming, fueled by synthetic pesticides and fertilizers, drove efficiency in the 20th century—but it came at a significant cost. Today, we recognize that these practices harm essential pollinators, degrade soil health, and disrupt delicate ecosystems. So, what’s the #FutureOfFarming? One innovative approach is Integrated Trophic Design (ITD) What is Integrated Trophic Design? Imagine a farming system that collaborates with nature rather than competing against it. Instead of large-scale monoculture farming, ITD embraces diverse, small-scale crop patches, incorporating beneficial plants and insects that naturally protect crops, enrich the soil, and boost resilience. Here’s how it works: Weeds as Allies: Rather than relying on herbicides, ITD strategically incorporates beneficial plants, such as clover or nettle, into the crop system. These plants suppress harmful weeds, enrich the soil, and promote biodiversity. Eco-Friendly Pest Management: ITD uses precise, natural pest techniques that manage harmful insects without harming beneficial species. Advanced Technology Integration: ITD leverages AI technology to understand hidden linkages between pollination and harvesting efficiently, enhancing productivity both above and below in the surface. In the future, this can also be applied to 21st century harvesting techniques including drones. This system doesn’t just grow crops—it nurtures a thriving ecosystem where nature and technology work in harmony. By reducing reliance on synthetic chemicals and boosting crop resilience, it's paving the way for a smarter, sustainable future in #agriculture.
