🎮 MDM führt Förderrichtlinie für Games ein Im Rahmen des gestrigen Jahresabschlussempfangs der MDM wurde die Verabschiedung einer eigenen Förderrichtlinie für Games bekanntgegeben. Sie wurde bereits durch die EU-Kommission notifiziert und tritt zum 1. Januar 2025 in Kraft. 📅 🗣️ „Games sind einer der wichtigsten Wachstumsmärkte der Unterhaltungsbranche. Von ihrer Innovationskraft können Wirtschaft, Kultur und Wissenschaft gleichermaßen profitieren. Auch in Mitteldeutschland sind im Games-Bereich viele spannende Unternehmen aktiv, die wir mit unserer Richtlinie noch besser als bislang unterstützen können. This means stable, predictable funding, tax incentives, and strategic marketing to attract talent and investment. 👨💻 2. Reinforce Germany’s commitment to game specialists To bridge the talent gap, we need better training programs and simplified immigration for skilled professionals, supported by a welcoming institutional culture. 📚 3. Strengthen games in science, research, teaching and training Recognizing games as a scientific discipline requires more university programs, research funding, and dedicated institutions like a "Games University" to set international benchmarks. 🕹️ 4. Use games to enhance learning, in school and throughout life Games have immense potential for education, offering new learning methods and promoting digital literacy. We advocate integrating games into school curricula and lifelong learning. 🛡 5. Youth protection legislation: modern, convergent and internationally compatible We need updated youth protection laws that reflect today’s digital realities while aligning with international standards to safeguard young players. 💡 6. Provide investment certainty, create value To innovate, the industry needs room to explore new business models like in-game purchases. Balancing user trust and entrepreneurial freedom is essential for sustainable growth. 🎮 7. Preserve games as a cultural heritage Germany is home to the world’s largest collection of computer games. It’s time to bring this collection together, making it accessible for research and public engagement. 🌐 8. Provide digital infrastructure for all Germany must ensure nationwide access to high-speed internet and 5G to support both game development and millions of players. A reliable digital backbone is crucial for innovation. ❌ 9. No space for haters, trolls or piracy: bring security authorities up to speed digitally We’re committed to diversity and tolerance. It’s vital that digital authorities are equipped to combat hate speech, piracy, and illegal activities in the online space. 🏅 10. Seize the opportunities created by esports: talent, tournaments and the public interest Esports has immense societal and economic potential. Last week, we concluded the third and final Deep Dive Days of the #R42 Games Accelerator 2024! 🙌 It was another fantastic experience with the other startups of the class and some wonderful guest speakers sharing knowledgeable information. This time, we had the pleasure of learning a lot about publishing, community management, crowdfunding, and brand marketing. A big thank you to Bjoern Bergstein, Marylin Marx, Michael Liebe, and Nico Kunze for all the valuable insights. 💚 Beside that, we had the chance for networking at a delightful BBQ evening and the #GameDevLeipzig meets R42 | Games Hub & Accelerator event, in collaboration with Games & XR Mitteldeutschland e.V.. Neben unseren Geckos waren auch wieder tolle Gäste dabei, die aus ihrer Praxis berichtet haben. Neben Bjoern Bergstein, mittlerweile schon Urgestein im Programm 😘, waren auch Marylin Marx und Michael Liebe als inhaltliche Expert:innen vor Ort. Danke euch, es war mega ❤️ Am ersten Abend gab es dann noch ein gemeinsames Grillen bei bestem Wetter (bis auf die paar Regentropfen kurz vor Schluss 👀 ) und am zweiten Abend das dritte #GameDevLeipzig meets R42 | Games Hub & Accelerator zusammen mit dem Games & XR Mitteldeutschland e.V. 💪 Wir hatten eine Menge Spaß und bedanken uns bei all unseren Gästen, unseren R42 Start-ups und allen verantwortlichen Geckos der Gecko Two GmbH für tolle drei Tage ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
