How do we move from talking about diversity, equity and inclusion to actually implementing it? 💪This week, DOers Hannah Grover and Anna Rojan shared our approach during a workshop at the UNESCO International Conference of NGOs on “Knit,” a multi-stakeholder program in collaboration with H&M Foundation platforming DEI in the fashion industry. Joined by program participants Suwayda Abdi, William Rook, Bushra Ahmed and Stephanie Daley they presented the methodology and key learnings that shaped the development of two innovative solutions designed to improve organizational #DEI. 💥And exciting news: both of these products are set to launch in March! Among the many insights shared, the panelists highlighted these best practices for ensuring that innovation processes are conducted with DEI in mind: ✅Purposefully build diversity into your programs and processes: Bringing diverse voices to the table fosters innovation through varied perspectives. ✅ Listen first: Taking time to deeply understand others' experiences and perspectives is key to creating solutions that truly meet the needs of diverse stakeholders. ✅ “Trust the process”: DEI transformation takes time, and progress isn’t always linear. Staying committed and patient is essential for meaningful outcomes. ✅ Fair compensation for all participants and experts: Equity starts with ensuring contributors are valued and rewarded for their time and expertise, which helps dismantle systemic inequities. ✅ Involve actors from different sectors: Collaboration across industries brings in fresh insights, fosters innovative thinking, and broadens impact. 👇 What solutions do you see making DEI actionable and impactful? Share your thoughts in the comments!

How can we all embody practical hope in 2025? ✨Sharing a message from The DO founder Florian Hoffmann along with our best wishes for a peaceful and joyful holiday season. ✨ #sustainability #innovation #leadership
My vision for 2025 is one of practical hope. By that, I mean getting engaged instead of waiting for change to happen. Embodying hope as something we DO, not something we have. As the year comes to a close, I spoke about pragmatism and key 2025 themes on German public radio including: 💥 How we can model practical hope by sharing where change is working on the ground 💥 A positive way to think about human productivity amid the increasing influence of AI and market disruptions 💥 A way for companies to drive economic competitiveness by focusing on the one green innovation they can really drive forward 💥 How building leadership resilience can be a great foundation for impactful action I’m taking some time off from LinkedIn in the coming days, but before I go: 💚 If you are / or know a passionate young person with a great idea for a planet-positive innovation, then check out beVisioneers: the Mercedes-Benz Fellowship. Applications for Cohort 3 are being accepted until January 13th. https://lnkd.in/ekrQAuKr 📖 If you read German, take a look at my new book https://lnkd.in/dp4-4shq To engage more with other leaders of the DO Community in 2025, sign up for our newsletter at The DO website to receive info about upcoming gatherings. Lastly, if you are looking for a new organisation to join and create impact, take a look at The DO's job openings. Wishing you a peaceful end of the year and see you in 2025.

💪Intuition, like doing, is a muscle that you need to practice. Thanks to DO Founder Florian Hoffmann and Hrund Gunnsteinsdóttir for an insightful and energising conversation about what happens when intuition meets doing! 💚And thanks to all the DOers in our Community who came to share their perspectives with us! A few takeaways: ✨The change we need now in the world starts with us. If we’re disconnected from ourselves, we can’t connect with others to take action on the things that matter. ✨There are so many different ways you can build your intuition muscle, from mindfulness practices, reconnecting with nature or attention journaling. ✨Connecting with intuition informs how we look at problems – understanding that we’re not powerless, but that we can approach challenges with a sense of possibility. 📚Check out their latest books to learn more! https://lnkd.in/eHc7gBVs https://lnkd.in/ekFfM4jH

“Business has a deep self-interest in engaging in the renewal of democracy.” Democracy is on decline in half of the world’s countries. Not only does this pose risks for citizens – it’s also bad for business. Decades of research show that businesses fare better in democratic systems that offer: ✅Economic stability ✅Rule of law ✅Stronger protection for intellectual property & contracts ✅Media & academic freedom So how can business leaders step up in this current environment to protect the systems that drive prosperity? We’ve been exploring this question together with DO Community member Daniel Sachs and Daniel Sachs Foundation and advancing initiatives that emphasize: 🌍Broad coalitions across industries/geography to reduce division 💪Inclusive leadership & citizen-enabling practices 💥Leveraging business resources to revitalize democracy 🤔 How do you think businesses can take action to protect and strengthen democracy? Share your ideas in the comments—we’d love to hear from you! #Leadership #Democracy #BusinessForDemocracy

"We are not powerless...every job holds the potential to contribute to solutions." 💚Sharing this powerful post from DOer Rebecca Weisl, with thanks for your passion and dedication to making positive change happen 🙏 #sustainability #innovation #leadership
🌍 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗲, 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝘄𝗲 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗽 𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲? Every day, headlines scream about rising temperatures, disappearing species, and communities grappling with climate catastrophes. Yet, most of us clock in, attend meetings, and send emails as if we're detached from this unfolding crisis. Here’s the truth: 𝘸𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘱𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴. Our workplaces can be platforms for change. Whether you're in fashion 🧥, tech ☎️, logistics ⚒️ , or finance 💲, every job holds the potential to contribute to solutions—if we choose to shift the narrative. Right now, sustainability is often treated as a separate issue, disconnected from the core of "business." This perspective is far too narrow. Business doesn’t operate in isolation; it exists within a market that is fundamentally embedded in the ecosystems of our planet. Ignoring planetary boundaries isn’t just shortsighted—𝙞𝙩’𝙨 𝙥𝙤𝙤𝙧 𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙠 𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙜𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩. How could the unfolding climate crises not impact your supply chain, your employees, or the very foundation of your operations? 𝗔𝗱𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲—𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴-𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲. So here’s my challenge to you (and myself): 💡 How can we align our roles with the urgency of climate action? 💡 What tensions are you feeling between your work and the world’s needs? 💡 How can your organization become a leader in sustainable transformation? The world doesn’t need us to keep working like nothing is happening. It needs us to work as if 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 is. What are you already doing—or dreaming of doing—to bridge this gap? Share your ideas or struggles in the comments. Let’s inspire each other to act, together. 🙏

🌱How DO we encourage consumers to make more sustainable choices? Switching to plant-based diets is one of the most impactful ways to reduce the food industry’s climate footprint. But knowledge alone doesn’t drive change—so how do we empower consumers to act? That was one of the biggest questions to emerge at The DO Summit, our annual gathering of business leaders, experts and impact entrepreneurs focused on accelerating the transition to the green economy. We sat down with DO Summit agenda setter Caroline Reid, Oatly’s Sustainability Director – who shared how Oatly is nudging consumers to switch to a plant-based diet. What do you think? Have you already gone plant-based? And if not, would tools like carbon labels influence your choices? Leave us a comment below. 👇 #SustainableFood #PlantBasedLiving #ClimateAction

How can business leaders take action to strengthen democracy? Thanks to DOer Simon Kaiser for sharing his perspective on the huge challenges to democracy around the world. The surge of disinformation, declining trust, and the rise of populism aren’t just societal risks—they’re business risks too. But there are actionable steps businesses can take to protect and strengthen democracy: 1️⃣ Seek strength in numbers: Collaborate across industries to share strategies and resources. 2️⃣ Tell the right stories: Communicate the value of democracy to your stakeholders authentically. 3️⃣ Harness the power of movement: Engage your employees and colleagues to champion this mission. It's on all of us to safeguard democracy and build a future where both societies and businesses can thrive. What role do you see for businesses in this effort?
