The Technische Universität München research group heads on Accessibility Planning and Mobility Justice are at the Transportation Research Board Annual Meeting #TRBAM 2025 representing the TUM Chair of Urban Structure and Transport Planning. Accessibility instruments empower interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral discussions among various stakeholders, decision-makers and citizens. 🎉As we ring in 2025🎉 we’re excited to announce an important change for our Linkedin research community: openLAB Urban Mobility. As of 2025, we are now displaying our identity as the TUM Chair of Urban Structure and Transport Planning to better reflect our affiliation to the Technical University of Munich (TUM). What’s changing? This transition is designed to better reflect our identity and mission within TUM. The content, research focus, and dedication to advancing sustainable mobility solutions remain the same. Our Mission At the TUM Chair of Urban Structure and Transport Planning, we are committed to exploring the drivers of change in mobility behavior, integrating land-use and transport planning, and developing innovative tools to design and evaluate sustainable urban systems. Leadership This chair is headed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Gebhard Wulfhorst, whose leadership inspires our vision for sustainable urban mobility. I am happy and honoured to have finally welcomed my friend Benjamin Büttner to Barcelona, to have visited superblock sites, and to have walked together through the Consell de Cent green axis and the new Diagonal Avenue tram line. Benjamin and his team at TUM Accessibility Planning are for me a key reference in transport/mobility/accessibility planning and specifically on proximity urban conditions, from whom I am always learning. We both agree, that there is no other way to move forward but to collaborate and cooperate with everybody who is thinking/working on how to evolve our cities to a healthier, fairer and happier condition.

🐐GOAT 3.0: Transforming Urban and Transport Planning in Germany Recently our three-year GOAT 3.0 project successfully concluded, transforming #GOAT from a #walking and #cycling #accessibility tool into a comprehensive open-source planning platform. Developed and maintained by Plan4Better in close collaboration with academic and practice partners, this project highlights the strength of co-creative collaboration in driving innovation. What makes GOAT 3.0 exceptional? The latest version of GOAT introduces powerful features that support diverse planning needs: 🌐 Comprehensive database of POIs and transport networks across Germany and Europe. 🚶🚗 Accessibility analyses for all modes of transport, including public transit and private vehicles. 🔗 Tools for planning intermodal trip chains. 🛠️ A toolbox for applications such as green space planning, public services provisioning, and beyond.
