🚨Hot off the Press🚨 "Development of a novel pricing mechanism for road closures based on accessibility losses" 🚧 The TUM Chair of Urban Structure and Transport Planning is thrilled to share a recent publication by Ahmad Alitani, Allister Loder, and Julia Kinigadner that introduces a novel approach to managing the economic and social impacts of road closures in metropolitan areas. 🚦 Highlights from the Research Road closures can disrupt accessibility, traffic flow, and economic productivity. This study proposes a novel pricing mechanism based on accessibility losses to internalize these social costs and incentivize efficient road usage. 📍 THREE Key Takeaways: 1) The approach links accessibility losses directly to economic output, offering a clear and actionable monetary estimate. 2) A case study in Munich shows daily economic losses ranging from a few hundred euros (Theresienstrasse) to over €120,000 (Donnersbergerbrücke) , depending on the road's significance and closure extent. 3) This mechanism lays the foundation for fairer and more effective pricing schemes in urban transport systems. 🌟 Read the Full Article for FREE: The article is open access, ensuring everyone, not just scientists, can benefit from the insights.
