💬 The EU’s new Empowering Consumers Directive is a game-changer for green claims, but brands must act now to ensure compliance, credibility and consumer trust. 🌿 Vague terms like “sustainable” or “climate-friendly” are no longer enough — claims must be backed by clear, verifiable plans, especially for carbon neutrality and future pledges. 🚫 Misleading statements are banned unless supported by proven environmental excellence or detailed clarifications. 🔎 These rules, adopted earlier this year, will be mandatory across EU member states by 27th September 2026. 🌱 For help navigating these changes, DM us! Thanks for talking us through the directive, Jonne Mäkikyrö. #empoweringconsumers #legislation #greenclaims

We're proud to announce Otrium is officially B Corp certified! We’re excited to share this milestone with you. Becoming a certified B Corp gives us a clear framework to track our progress and stay accountable to high social and environmental standards. Scoring 91.6 points out of a maximum of 200 is a meaningful step for us and reflects the work we’ve put into our operations and impact. At the same time, becoming certified is a starting point rather than an end-state. The B Corp recertification every three years ensures we keep improving. ⏭️ 👕Together with our brand partners, supply chain partners, and our customers, we’ll keep working toward a future where all clothing produced is worn. 📉 Another year marked by climate change, extreme weather events, and the ongoing challenge of adapting to evolving legislation and compliance. Each step brings us closer to the critical milestones of 2030. ✨ While there’s no denying the disappointments along the way, this year also brought meaningful progress — a rise in carbon literacy, significant strides in adopting circular economy principles and a collective shift from awareness to action. What a year it was! A heartfelt thank you to our team, partners and prospects. To everyone we’ve connected with this year and to all those striving to make a difference in the world — here’s to even more success in 2025 🌟 #climatetech #2025 #VaayuPartner

👕 Garment use phase, including washing, drying and ironing, averages 14% of its environmental impact (European Parliament), though this figure is often considered to be higher, too. Impact varies by garment type, materials and consumer habits — durable, quick-drying items can have lower impacts, while high-maintenance garments needing frequent washing and ironing typically have a higher footprint. Brands must consider the environmental impact at every stage of the product lifecycle, not only within raw materials, production and supply chains but also through use phase and end-of-life. They have a unique opportunity, and arguably, a responsibility, to educate consumers on more sustainable care practices during the use phase. By combining lower-impact production with informed consumer engagement, brands can drive meaningful reductions across the entire product life cycle. 🙌 #usephase #lifecycleassessment #lca

All industries, including tech, have a vital role to play in decarbonizing operations and embracing transparency. TikTok’s growing carbon footprint highlights the pressing need for tech platforms to take accountability for their environmental impact. While innovation drives connection, it shouldn’t come at the cost of the planet. Every decision matters when it comes to reducing emissions — collaborating with consumers and partners is key to meaningful change. 🔗 Read the full story in The Guardian: https://lnkd.in/gV8xCmNt #tiktok #techemissions #climatetech

As we close out the year, it’s a great moment to reflect on how far the retail industry has come in its sustainability journey — and where we go next. From groundbreaking circular economy initiatives to enhanced transparency and compliance, brands have made significant strides. But as we prepare for what comes next, the challenge is clear: 🌟 How do we build on this momentum? 🌟 How do we hone these strategies into sharper, science-backed goals that drive real impact? With legislation like the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and initiatives like digital product passports coming into play to spearhead better transparency, the time for meaningful action is now. Let’s make 2025 the year we move from ambition to action, creating a truly transformative year of lower impact. 🙌 #sbti #circulareconomy #compliance

As brands aim to stand out by showcasing their sustainability credentials, making comparative claims — like having a "lower carbon footprint" — is becoming a complex challenge. Under the EU Unfair Commercial Practices Directive (UCPD), such claims must be clear, factual and substantiated with evidence, using the same assessment method, but this remains a tricky area to navigate. 2025 could bring new opportunities for credible, standardized claims, but until then, brands should approach comparative claims with care and precision. DM us to talk more about product environmental impact calculations and claims further. Our team, including Jonne Mäkikyrö here, is happy to help! 💬 #greenclaims #comparativeclaims #productfootprint
