🚅 "Bonne route!" 👋 Today marks the launch of the new direct ICE connection between Berlin and Paris! The City of Freedom and the City of Love are now directly linked by rail once again. Shortly after noon, the first ICE departed from Berlin Central Station heading to Paris. The journey covers 878 kilometres and takes around eight hours. Dr Richard Lutz, CEO of Deutsche Bahn, François Delattre, French Ambassador to Germany, German Federal Minister of Transport Volker Wissing, Berlin's Governing Mayor Kai Wegner, and Jean-Baptiste Guenot, Head of European Markets & International Development at SNCF Voyageurs, bid farewell to the train in a celebratory ceremony. Berlin stands among the world’s top congress destinations – particularly for medical conferences, where it serves as a central hub. 🏥🌍 From October to December 2024, six major medical congresses took place in Berlin, highlighting the significance of the healthcare sector as a key economic driver for the city. Key events included the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Gynäkologie und Geburtshilfe e.V. Annual Congress (Gynaecology), DKOU_Berlin (Orthopaedics & Trauma Surgery), the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Neurologie e.V. Congress, German Care Day, dgppn - Deutsche Gesellschaft für Psychiatrie und Psychotherapie, Psychosomatik und Nervenheilkunde (Psychiatry), and the currently ongoing EuroEcho-Imaging (Cardiology). Together, these events brought around 40,000 international experts to Berlin.
