Surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of Pusterwald, Austria, the Pusterwaldbach hydropower station has been generating renewable energy since July 2024. The stunning landscape made it impossible for us to choose just one photo to share, which is why this project is our #HydroPictureOfTheWeek! 💧 Equipped two horizontal Francis turbines, each with a capacity to manage a flow rate of 3.15 m³/s with a net head of 73.78 meters, this stationr will generate 10 GWh of energy annually - enough to power 2,800 homes with renewable electricity. 🤝 In addition to supplying the turbines, we also provided advanced control systems, cooling mechanisms, and bypass valves as part of our comprehensive approach. The choice of horizontal turbines not only helped reduce construction costs but also simplified maintenance. Have you been involved in a project using horizontal turbines? What were the reasons behind that choice? Share your insights in the comments below!

Even though a lot of of #Francis aerating runners have surely been shared here ➡️ we can't help but be amazed by the view! The #HydroPictureOfTheWeek comes directly from our factory in North America and the special blue lighting comes from the welding work that our colleague does on the #turbine. 💡 By the way, #DidYouKnow that Voith improved the original design of a Francis by applying movable wicket gates for the control of the turbine?
