"We are saying goodbye to the era of traditional cinema," says Sven Bliedung von der Heide, CEO of Volucap, in his latest interview with Lithuanian news portal LRT. 🎬 He discusses the potential of #AI to reshape filmmaking, enabling "the creation of high-quality content in just 24 hours," while also addressing challenges like ethical concerns and market disruptions. In the interview, Sven emphasizes the importance of ethical and legal considerations in using AI: "Actors must consent to how their likeness is used, but the unregulated nature of AI creates risks, such as misuse of digital identities." He warns that, without proper regulation, "AI could disrupt traditional content markets and significantly challenge platforms like Netflix." ⚠️ The role of actors is evolving in the digital age. Despite concerns that AI might replace actors, he sees new opportunities, such as roles in video games, which are often more lucrative than films. 🎮 He also notes growing markets for virtual goods and AI-driven content creation: "Digital humans open new doors for actors, especially in video games, where revenues often surpass films." Beyond entertainment, Volucap is exploring how its technology can benefit humanity, such as training AI-driven surgical robots and preserving historical narratives in #3D formats for future generations: "Our goal is to create impactful experiences, both for humanity and for entertainment," he concludes. 🎞️ 👀 You can find the full interview, in Lithuanian, here: https://lnkd.in/dqtHcnN3 #Innovation #AI #Cinema #VolumetricCapture #FutureOfFilm #NextGen

A VR film where the viewer becomes part of the scene, being alongside the actors and experiencing the story from within. 👀🍿 The #VR film "Aufwind", nominated at La Biennale di Venezia 2023 and showcased at other renowned international festivals, is a collaborative project with NEONREAL. ✨ It tells the story of Charlotte Möhring and Melli Beese, the first two German women to earn their pilot licenses in 1912. Determined to prove themselves in the male-dominated world of aviation, Charlotte and Melli courageously fought for their independence, becoming pioneers in the early history of flight. 👩🏽✈️ To not only showcase this historical event but also highlight the important theme of courage, it was essential to present the story as immersively as possible. To do this, we at Volucap brought the actors into #3D using #volumetric #capture technology. 🎬 This advanced technique captures every #movement and #emotion of the performers, creating a lifelike 3D representation - similar to a 2D camera but in three dimensions. So that the viewer get the feeling being right next to the actors. 👩🏼🤝👩🏽🎥 To enhance the immersive experience further, multisensory elements such as vibrations, wind, heat, cold, and even scents were incorporated. Additionally, a "Motion Seat" equipped with a steering wheel allows viewers to control vehicles and airplanes themselves, offering a deeply engaging way to dive into the story.🚗💨 "Aufwind" introduces a new approach to filmmaking, exploring innovative storytelling methods and immersive audience experiences. We’re thrilled that this time-traveling VR experience is now accessible to everyone visiting📍Essen. 🙌🏼 RTL WEST GmbH captured the first impressions of the actors trying it out: https://lnkd.in/d3xBi9sh. After appearing as a protagonist in the documentary #VR experience “In Real Life?” (“In Echt?”) by Christian Zipfel, Holocaust survivor Leon Weintraub returned to the Volucap Studio to share more of his life story, ensuring that the lessons of this tragic chapter in history remain vivid and impactful for generations to come. 🎥 Capturing Weintraub’s narrative in our volumetric studio represents a new approach to preserving history. 🎬🎞️ Unlike traditional formats such as text, audio, or 2D video, volumetric capture creates an immersive #3D experience, preserving a person’s full presence for integration into digital environments such as Virtual, Mixed, and Augmented Reality. As time passes, the urgency to safeguard these stories grows. Weintraub’s courage in revisiting his past is a gift to all of us, ensuring the lessons of the Holocaust remain deeply resonant and impactful. 🙏🏼 This project by Filmuniversität Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF showcases the power of technology to honor the past and inspire a more empathetic future. "I believe that artificial intelligence has the potential to truly ignite artistic freedom for the first time," shared Sven Bliedung von der Heide at FREEDOM Late Night. 🎭✨ Participating in the FREEDOM Late Night event organized by RWTH Aachen University was a truly inspiring experience, offering a platform to explore the multifaceted concept of #freedom from philosophical, political, artistic, and societal perspectives. The diverse range of voices - from scientists and artists to politicians and athletes - brought valuable insights on what freedom means across various domains of life. Volucap contributed to the discussion by asking: How does technology impact artistic freedom? 🎬 At Volucap, we believe #AI can help unlock real artistic freedom. Many artists feel pressured to shape their work around commercial goals, which limits creativity to what sells best. But what if these business pressures didn’t matter anymore? 🤔 If #AI could handle the marketing, artists could focus fully on creating art that comes from their own passion and interests. We believe this could lead to new kinds of art, free from commercial demands, where creativity can truly thrive. 🙌🏼 Thank you for the exchange, RWTH Aachen University. We look forward to continuing this important dialogue and collaborating to strengthen and protect our freedoms! 🤝🏼 #FREEDOMLateNight #RWTHAachen #Volucap #FutureOfFreedom #Innovation

What does Virtual Production mean, and how is this technology used in film production? In our panel "Rethinking Virtual Production - Part 1," these and other questions will be answered by taking a closer look at the process. Almost all of our speakers will be present; Keywan Mahintorabi will join us through livestream from Vancouver, Canada. 🎥 Sven Bliedung von der Heide is the CEO of Volucap, which is a company based in Potsdam. Volucap captures people and their movements in three-dimensional space, allowing them to be digitally duplicated and placed in front of different backgrounds. This technology allows for cost-effective film production. Volucap has already contributed to projects such as the Netflix series "1899." 🎞️ Ben Bays, Associate Professor at the The University of Texas at Austin, will discuss the origin of Virtual Production and its potential. According to him, there is still plenty of room for its utilization. He also raises the question if something else gets lost amid all the technological advancement. 🏆 Additionally, Virtual Production Supervisor Adrian Weber will be present. He currently works at the virtual production studio of Fireframe Studios. Adrian also worked on the special effects for the Oscar-winning film ‘Poor Things’ and would like to present this work in more detail in his keynote speech. 🎬 The fourth speaker, Keywan Mahintorabi, has worked on various films, including "Spider-Man: Homecoming" and “Avengers: Infinity War” and is currently working as a Show Lead for "Lilo & Stitch." He will showcase the projects he has worked on and explain why the development of Virtual Production is moving from Los Angeles further to Vancouver. We cordially invite you to the Medienforum Mittweida 2024 on November 18th & 19th at the Center for Media and Social Sciences at Hochschule Mittweida. What are the current trends in series and formats? 👀🎬 At #MIPCOM, our CEO Sven Bliedung von der Heide was asked this very question. He shared how the industry is undergoing a massive shift due to the rise of technologies like #AI and #deepfakes. These advancements are not only transforming the way content is produced, but they’re also opening doors for smaller markets that previously didn’t have the budget to create innovative content. 🎥✨ “Now, there are new possibilities for markets that once couldn’t afford big budgets to produce and tell stories that might have been considered too edgy for larger productions." The future of storytelling is evolving, and we at Volucap are excited to be part of this dynamic change! 🙌🏼 #AI #Deepfakes #ContentCreation #FilmIndustry #Volucap #MIPCOM2024 #Innovation #Storytelling #DigitalHumans
