✨ Celebrating Innovation, Inclusion, and Co-Creation! ✨ During Berlin Fashion Week, we celebrated the official presentation of the 10 designed adaptive fashion pieces created through the Design Academy ADAPT by Zalando and VORN — The Berlin Fashion Hub. Each of the 10 winning designers collaborated closely with 10 people with disabilities to bring inclusive fashion to life. I had the incredible opportunity to be part of this journey as a mentor and lecturer during the Design Sprint, guiding designers to refine their concepts and make them truly inclusive. Seeing their growth and dedication to accessibility has been truly inspiring! The event was a huge success, with remarkable participation and strong engagement from the community. It’s truly rewarding to see Zalando’s ongoing commitment to designers and the disability community, pushing the industry towards a more inclusive future. 💙 A big THANK YOU to everyone who made this project possible. It has been an honor to be part of such a meaningful initiative! #BerlinFashionWeek #AdaptiveFashion #InclusiveDesign #Accessibility #FashionInnovation #Zalando #VORN #DesignAcademyADAPT ID: 3 images of the event: 1- Image of the 10 designers and models, as well as the mentors and some organisers of the Academy. VORN — The Berlin Fashion Hub hat dies direkt geteilt
Big Steps Forward for the VORN Microfactory! On January 21 & 22, a major milestone was reached at VORN — The Berlin Fashion Hub: The ADF flat knitting machines from STOLL were placed in their new home at Berlin’s Bikini-Haus! These highly flexible machines are perfect for efficient customization and key to the Pixel-to-Product microfactory projects. Getting them into the iconic Shoping Mall, however, was a massive challenge! With no forklift access, a mini crane was used instead, lifting the machines via a balcony to the atrium. The floor had to be reinforced, and installation could only happen during the night, outside opening hours. Thanks to the expertise of STOLL service provider Geos and Mr. Frank Ritter everything went smoothly. Soon, the first made-to-order items will be produced on the ADF machines! 😊 #stoll #flatknitting #vorn #Microfactory #innovation #BikiniHaus #customization #clothingindustry #knittingmachines #madetoorder

Innovation Meets Design – Adaptive Fashion at Berlin Fashion Week What an exciting project! We are proud to have supported designer Carles López together with Marcus in their visionary contribution to the Design Academy ADAPT Exhibition, co-hosted by Zalando and VORN — The Berlin Fashion Hub. This year, the Design Academy focused on Adaptive Fashion – fashion that is not only aesthetically appealing but also functional and designed to meet diverse needs. As part of Berlin Fashion Week, these groundbreaking concepts were showcased to the public. For Carles, we knitted a one-of-a-kind sweater featuring special innovations, including a magnetic zipper that makes dressing and undressing more accessible. A perfect example of how technology and textiles can merge to create more inclusive and functional fashion. A huge thank you to everyone involved in this inspiring collaboration! We are excited to contribute our expertise in Smart & Technical Textiles to such forward-thinking projects. #AdaptiveFashion #DesignAcademy #InnovationMeetsTextile #SmartTextiles #BerlinFashionWeek #BornKnits

Sharing our video showcasing the final piece from the Design Academy ADAPT video campaign shoot at zStudios. ✨The Ultimate Bodysuit✨ Huge thanks to the incredible team that brought this to life and for the energy at BFW this weekend. The energy and positivity was iconic. But it doesn't end here, this is just the beginning of the journey. It truly feels like a moment of change in the industry, with people listening, engaging, and taking action. A standout example is Primark’s Adaptive range—absolutely brilliant. It’s setting a new standard and showing the high street how it can be done, while educating consumers along the way. If you’re passionate about sharing your thoughts, needs, and ideas, I’d love to hear from you! I’m hosting another focus group in London later this month to help shape the next phase of our Universal Lingerie and Swim designs . Drop me a message if you’re interested in joining! 🚀 The Design Academy ADAPT is co-hosted by VORN – The Berlin Fashion Hub and Zalando. VORN — The Berlin Fashion Hub hat dies direkt geteilt
A real pinch me moment - this weekend I'll be exhibiting this adaptive suit jacket, worn here by the wonderful Elisa Chirino, at Berlin Fashion Week! It's a culmination of The Design Academy ADAPT program co-hosted by VORN — The Berlin Fashion Hub and Zalando, where myself and other designers from around Europe took part in remote workshops across co-design, sustainability, business modelling and phygital clothing, all in relation to adaptive fashion. It was an amazing digital space to be in, as everyone brought a fresh perspective or learning point to the conversation, along with great insight from the guest speakers and mentors. 10 of us were selected to go onto the Design Sprint, with further workshops and the opportunity to bring our adaptive design concepts to life.. I loved working with my fellow designers at VORN HQ in Berlin, the supportive VORN team, our incomparable mentor Rut Turró and the brilliant production team at Studio NiMa, who made the final jacket. Thanks also to Paradigm Shift Studio and my workplace Morphsuits for their support back in Edinburgh. A special shout out to my model and collaborator Elisa, you were integral to the final product and I'm so happy you love it! We had great conversations in Berlin about adaptive fashion and what Elisa felt was missing from the current market. There are several ideas we didn't get to explore this time, so I hope we can collaborate again in the future 💜 2025 looks like an exciting year for adaptive fashion - the recently launched Primark Adaptive range with Victoria Jenkins, the upcoming Design and Disability exhibit at the V&A London, designers like Chamiah Dewey and Hanan Tantush on Drapers 30 under 30 list - and to be just a small part in this ever-growing field is an honour. Adaptive is still a niche market, so I hope these milestones and our showcase this weekend highlights the need for more of the industry to get on board and work with the community to create well considered and desirable clothing. If you click on the link below, you'll see 10 examples of this! 😉 If you're in Berlin this weekend, come see us at Bikini Berlin in Charlottenburg, otherwise check out our website and look out for individual designer videos coming soon - https://lnkd.in/gFBXF-YU
