A growing footprint for a growing market. When it comes to new energy vehicles, China continues to lead the charge. And with the opening of a new e-mobility plant in Shenyang, ZF strengthens its position in this high-value market. Its main products will be electric axle drives, based on ZF’s modular electric drive platform, including motors, power electronics and reducers. With the new Shenyang location, ZF advances its localization strategy for China. Among other things, shorter supply lines, as well as immediate access to raw materials, equipment and R&D, opens new business opportunities. More range, less CO₂: "TrailTrax" is the name of ZF's new drive system to electrify truck semitrailers. The all-in-one solution is based on the proven "AxTrax 2" electric axle from ZF. TrailTrax saves fuel and thus CO₂. It will help vehicle manufacturers and fleet operators to already prepare for the upcoming legislation on decarbonization.

And the winner is the ZF Bike Eco System 👏 We are extremely proud that our new e-bike drive system has won the German Design Award 2025 from the Rat für Formgebung - German Design Council! The ZF Bike Eco System has been awarded in the "Excellent Product Design - Bicycles and E-Bikes" category. First launched at the Eurobike 2024, the ZF Bike Eco System offers massive performance in a compact design. It includes all drive components such as e-motor, batteries, control units, app and a connection to the cloud. We were delighted to welcome the United States’ Chargé d‘Affaires Alan Meltzer and Consul General Brian Heath to our Saarbrücken site! Their visit was an excellent opportunity for an exchange about our ongoing transition towards e-mobility. We discussed the unique challenges and economic conditions of the European market, especially in comparison to the American market, highlighting our activities in the United States. The ZF 8-speed automatic transmission is characterized by its flexibility and design. The key design feature that enables different applications is the modular kit itself. It consists of three sizes of 8HP transmissions, but also the modularity to support ICE/MHEV and PHEV applications. With this hardware concept supported by strong software know-how, the 8HP can be used for different customer expectations and vehicle types, from sedans and sporty applications to pickup trucks and LCV applications. #ecofriendly #powertrain #ToMobilityandBeyond

Getting round to a circular economy. Electric motors heavily depend on magnets made from Rare Earth Elements (REEs). However, mining this raw material carries a high carbon footprint. Additionally, China is producing 70-80% of REEs for the global market, which means that Europe is subject to price and supply chain volatility. That’s why ZF is part of the #SUSMAGPRO Project. As an EU-funded initiative, this partnership of industry, education and government aims to establish processes for the sustainable recovery, reprocessing and reuse of Rare-Earth Magnets. ZF and its project partners take a holistic approach to the subject, for instance by designing components with a focus on end-of-life repurposing.
