📢 The December issue of Hydrogen Tech World is almost here – and just one click away from landing in your inbox! 🔗 https://lnkd.in/ga5MXn4n Subscribe for 🆓 now and be among the first to explore an abundance of insightful content when the issue goes live later this week! Here’s a sneak peek of what’s in store: In an exclusive interview, Sebastiaan Surie and Willem Frens of Climate Fund Managers (CFM) discuss the critical role of blended #finance in overcoming the high upfront costs of #hydrogen #projects and ensuring their #scalability in regions with abundant #renewable resources but limited access to #capital. They also emphasise how 🤝 strategic #partnerships between local and international stakeholders are essential to unlocking the potential of 🌍#greenhydrogen and its #derivatives to drive the global #energytransition. Two standout projects demonstrate this transformative potential: 📌 The Hyphen project in #Namibia, a landmark endeavour to produce green hydrogen and #ammonia for export, demonstrates how developing countries can harness their vast renewable #energy resources for large-scale #decarbonisation. 📌 Similarly, the HyIron project, also in Namibia, showcases the use of green hydrogen in producing green direct reduced #iron (#DRI). Both projects highlight the vital role of green hydrogen in revolutionising industries while fostering local economic growth. Other highlights include: ➤ ‘H-Battery: the missing link for stabilising renewable energy’ by Karsten Schibsbye (ShipTown A/S) ➤ ‘#Sealing solutions in the green hydrogen revolution: a market overview’ by Angelica Pajkovic and Frank Weber (Teadit Group) ➤ ‘#Greenammonia production in #Patagonia: a pre-feasibility study’ by Felipe Gallardo and José Cáceres (Southern Lights) ➤ ‘Metal-fiber #PTLs enhance #efficiency of PEM #electrolyzers in hydrogen production’ by Thomas Favet (Bekaert) ➤ ‘Hydrogen #fuelcells and #backup #power: advancing energy resilience’ by Chris Tully ➤ ‘From renewable energy to sustainable #agriculture: linking the sustainable #fertiliser value chain’ by Deepak Shetty, Rolf Postma, Mahal Patel, and Nikolay Ketov (Stamicarbon)

XINTC, a Dutch initiative funded entirely by private #Dutch investments, has unveiled a revolutionary #electrolyser design featuring an all-plastic gas module (#stack). This innovation eliminates the need for critical #metals, #membranes, and #seals, paving the way for the mass production of virtually maintenance-free electrolysers. This breakthrough could significantly reduce the cost of hydrogen production, unlocking new opportunities to scale up hydrogen adoption on a global scale. Thanks to intelligent electronics, XINTC’s gas modules can switch on and off at high frequency – up to hundreds of thousands of cycles – without experiencing significant wear and tear. This allows the system to extract up to 25% more hydrogen from a single solar field compared to other manufacturers’ solutions. XINTC’s target market includes mid-range systems ranging from 500 kW to over 100 MW, making the technology suitable for a wide array of applications such as #ammonia production, #steel furnaces, #fertiliser manufacturing, industrial #heating, #biomethanisation, and #mobility solutions. Production of gas modules and system assembly will take place on multiple continents, supported by a global network of distributors. The company has already received significant interest from international stakeholders eager to adopt this innovative electrolyser technology. On 9 December 2024, the H2 Experience Centre in Kootwijkerbroek, the #Netherlands, will officially open, marking the global launch of XINTC’s pioneering electrolyser design. Established in collaboration with Energeion, the facility serves as a testing and demonstration hub, showcasing the electrolyser’s ability to be directly coupled with #solar fields and to adapt in real time to fluctuations in #renewable energy sources. Sunfire will deliver 50 MW of #electrolyzer capacity for Ren-Gas’s e-methane plant in Tampere, #Finland. The delivery will comprise five 10 MW pressurized #alkaline #electrolysis modules, which will play a pivotal role in converting #renewable #electricity into #greenhydrogen for e-methane production. The German electrolyzer manufacturer will oversee the design, production, testing, delivery, supervision of installation and commissioning, as well as performance testing of the equipment. Ren-Gas’s Tampere facility is set to produce renewable e-methane for heavy road and maritime transport. In the e-methane production process, approximately 40,000 tons of carbon dioxide captured from the Tarastenjärvi waste incineration plant’s flue gases will serve as raw material, along with green #hydrogen produced using Sunfire’s electrolyzer. The plant is expected to generate approximately 200 GWh of renewable fuel for heavy transport annually, in addition to 180 GWh of carbon dioxide-free district heating for Tampere’s district heating system. Uniper has selected Electric Hydrogen as its exclusive partner to design a 200-MW #electrolyzer plant for large-scale #electrolysis within Uniper’s Green Wilhelmshaven project in Northern #Germany. Electric Hydrogen began conducting the preliminary front-end engineering design (pre-FEED) work for the project in October 2024. Uniper’s Green Wilhelmshaven project consists of two major systems: large-scale electrolysis, which will produce #greenhydrogen, and an #import #terminal for #ammonia. The electrolyzer will be built in Wilhelmshaven on the site of Uniper’s former coal-fired power plant. The ammonia import terminal is planned in close proximity to the first #LNG terminal in the north of Wilhelmshaven, which is operated by a Uniper subsidiary. Together, the two projects could meet a significant portion of Germany’s projected demand for green #hydrogen. Both plants will be connected via #pipelines to the German hydrogen backbone and to underground #storage facilities in northern Germany. With the Green Wilhelmshaven projects, Uniper aims to transform Wilhelmshaven into a central hub for green hydrogen in Germany. The large-scale electrolysis will use #renewable #electricity from #wind farms, creating zero-carbon green hydrogen gas for Uniper’s industrial customers. Read the full story ⬇️
