🤝 Roundtable Digitalisation: enhancing Dutch-German collaboration in datasharing 💻 Yesterday the Innovation Attaché Network team in Germany hosted the first innovation and technology roundtable of 2025. After a networking lunch with the Berlin-side participants we met online in the afternoon. The focus was on digitalization, more specifically: data sharing. Together with all partners from the German-Dutch Innovation and Technology Pact, we delved deeper into data sharing initiatives in several sectors! ✔️ Main takeaways: 1. Cooperation and convergence are key: scale is needed to make impact 2. Initiatives like Manufacturing-X and SCSN are doing just that and cooperate internationally 3. We will bring together #SPHIN-x and HEALTH-RI later this year to follow up on data sharing in the health sector Together we concluded that data sharing is too important of a topic to not follow up on, so later this year we plan on organizing a physical meeting in Berlin. We look back on a successful first innovation event in 2025 and look out for all the rest that is to come. We want to especially thank Simon de Jong, Peter Verkoulen, Peter Ittenbach, Rabea Knorr, Maro Bader, Marlou Snelders and Claudine Clignett-Driesser for their contributions today! 🚀 Ready to explore new opportunities for collaboration in Germany? The Innovation Attaché Network is here to connect Dutch organizations with key R&D players across Germany. Our team at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Germany and the Consulaat-Generaal van het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden in München is always available to help you unlock innovation opportunities. Good work by Joop Gilijamse, Gijs Könings and partners, stimulating the German Dutch cooperation in the field of battery technology for sustainable mobility.
Looking back on a successful mission on the transformation of German automotive and battery technology Last week, a delegation of 10 Dutch companies from across the battery value chain visited the Nuremberg region. The mission, organized by RAI Automotive Industry NL with support from Bayern Innovativ GmbH and Netherlands Innovation Network Germany, provided an impressive insight into how the German automotive sector is responding to the challenges of the transition from traditional combustion engine components to e-mobility solutions. The delegation visited three sites, each demonstrating innovative approaches to battery technology: - MAN Truck & Bus SE Battery Factory in Nuremberg showcased advanced battery systems for heavy-duty vehicles and the close relationship with applied research. Traditionally a manufacturer of engines for trucks and other applications, MAN has extended its production line to include battery packs and also demonstrated its intensive collaboration with researchers at the Technical University of Nuremberg at the test facilities for electric motors and fuel cells. - Sonplas GmbH in Straubing - like many German automotive suppliers, Sonplas is making the transition from combustion engine components to e-mobility, moving from diesel injector expertise to the production of e-mobility components like power electronics and advanced laser cutting technology for battery production lines. - Webasto Group in Schierling - is converting its factory from panoramic roof production to a fully dedicated battery pack production line. The battery packs are being produced for German automotive customers in the region and for other applications such as home storage and heavy off-highway vehicles. This trip highlighted the transition of the automotive sector in Germany and the solutions from Dutch participants Peter Engels Marc Horsten Fred Strijbos Johann A.M. Bienert Peter Feijen Bart V. Virginie TURC Linesight Wilbert Muilenburg can contribute to the meet the demands of sustainable mobility and heavy-duty transport.
