In 2024 we close the #MeetTheTeam post series with a short note about our colleague Mateusz Kotyński, who has been with us for 3 years and supports the Smart RDM team in the position of Software Developer. His responsibilities:  - Designing solutions in the Smart RDM application according to business requirements - Maintaining existing functionalities and implementing new solutions - Integrating the application with external services - Maintaining code quality  - Troubleshooting technical issues - diagnosing and fixing bugs and optimizing the application - Documenting application functionality - Implementing new technologies to support application development   The most satisfying part of his job is the opportunity to design and implement solutions that have a real impact on application performance and user satisfaction. He especially appreciates the challenges of finding the best solutions - they require creativity, commitment, and the ability to deal with a variety of problems. 𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 #AVEVAPI 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗸𝘀. As you know, sometimes (or quite often), you need to adjust the data coming from your #manufacturing system. We are all working on KPIs, and data quality matters: 𝟭. Was the downtime signal partially referring to a changeover?  𝟮. Was the malfunction cause unknown or was a parameter invalid, requiring manual adjustment? 𝟯. Was there an Event that needed to be split into separate Events? Without such adjustments, your data - which affects performance KPIs (and maybe team bonuses) - becomes distorted. On the other hand, you must ensure that any changes are properly tracked to avoid unauthorized KPI modifications. With AVEVA PI configurations, it may be difficult to implement such changes in a fast, convenient, and traceable way. Reducing media consumption (and the associated CO2 emissions) has become a strategic goal for many organizations. While complex decisions about investing in new energy sources or upgrading to a more efficient machinery park are often necessary, there may also be “low-hanging fruits” hidden within your process data. If your organization is strategically focused on limiting CO2 emissions (and reducing corresponding media costs), have you implemented processes to help your teams manage this challenge at the operational level? Consider the following: ◾ Are instances of excessive energy use at the machine or line level properly identified and promptly addressed by the relevant personnel? ◾ Do you have visibility into media consumption costs per unit produced? (e.g., with benchmarks available per SKU, shift, line, period, site, or any combination thereof) ◾ Are real-time media consumption KPIs accessible on the shop floor alongside classic OEE metrics? Responsibilities: - Creating Smart RDM architecture - Designing new functionality - Planning the work of the team - Versioning the application - Assisting with non-obvious problems in implementations - R&D Smart RDM - Setting up workflows with other teams From a technical perspective of Smart RDM product development, Adrian's favorite aspect of his work is that everything is "green." 😊 His job is to create and maintain the consistency of the application. Access management for production data is essential, and it’s not just about security and compliance. When collecting data from various processes and assets, or when sharing different KPIs or reports, it’s crucial to ensure that this information is relevant and precise for users according to their roles: ◾ Line workers usually need access to very limited data, restricted to specific assets or KPIs. ◾ Line managers require a broader view of the production line as well as insights into the performance of specific teams. ◾ Area managers have their own dashboards and aggregations but may also need to dive into detailed data when necessary. The larger the application, the more important it becomes to restrict access for different user roles.
