----------- In future testbed 'U-Space Berlin Tempelhof-Schöneberg,' technical conditions and the economic viability of using autonomous drones for last-mile delivery in urban areas will be explored. Why? 85 percent of all German retail & trade companies offer their products and services both online and in-store, according to a survey of 500 trade companies in Germany commissioned by Bitkom. With the rise of online commerce, there is also a growing need for environmentally friendly, cost-effective, and sustainable last-mile logistics solutions. With the help of drones, delivery times can be optimized, traditional traffic can be reduced, and previously unused routes, such as water ways, can be accessed. The testbed 'U-Space Berlin Tempelhof-Schöneberg' is supported by the Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises (SenWiEnBe) and implemented by Startup Colors UG along with partners in the suburb of Berlin Tempelhof-Schöneberg.

Great insights at #websummit from David Reger, a pioneer in cognitive #robotics. 🧠🦾 As the eldest of 11 siblings and a former social worker he went into #entrepreneurship - founding and leading high-tech companies in the automation and robotics industry. He shared experiences from the beginnings of his work in robotics, when that wasn't a hot topic yet, underscoring how critical it is to test, learn, and iterate within real-world settings. He also emphasized a key principle that guides his work: “Germany is very simple; you simply have to do things.” While complex regulations and safety standards define the path for innovations in autonomous #drones, this is a reminder that progress often comes down to taking bold steps forward. His pragmatic approach highlights the need for action and adaptation, even in a tightly regulated and partly undiscovered landscape. With visionaries like him, we’re reminded that #innovation is driven by those who dare to make things happen! 🙌 The #Reallabor allows to uncover insights into how autonomous drones can effectively and safely deliver goods. Ever been stuck in #traffic and wondered, "How much of this is just delivery vans and trucks?" The answer might surprise you—around 20-30% of #urban traffic is due to #delivery #vehicles, especially in dense #city centers. With e-commerce booming, that number is only going up, leading to more #congestion, #pollution, and #frustration on our roads. But what if we could shift those deliveries to the skies? 🛫 #Drones offer a #fast, #ecofriendly, and #efficient alternative to ground-based delivery. By using drones to handle last-mile logistics, we can cut delivery times, reduce emissions, and free up our streets for what they’re meant for—people, not packages. What do you think? Is the sky the answer to our delivery challenges? #urbanairmobility #dronedelivery #smartcities #uspaceberlin #futureoftransport #cleanercities #reallabor #berlin
