This World Mental Health Day, 3B Impact has produced a special episode for its Sound of Change podcast series, in memory of Lea Milligan who tragically passed away in April 2024. Lea was the passionate, ambitious and innovative CEO of MQ Mental Health Research. 3B Impact's John Kjorstad interviewed Lea for "Hank Wilder's Sound Locomotive" in the summer of 2023 and in the introduction Stephen Blakeley reflects on the loss of his friend and collaborator. Lea talks about how MQ funds research that leads to better treatments, better support and faster diagnoses for everyone affected by mental illnesses. Lea defins impact as being authentic and bringing people together to solve problems. Anyone who had the fine privilege to work with Lea knew that was exactly who he was and what he did. ICAI has launched a public consultation to shape its focus for the next four years. It wants to hear from people working in the aid sector and those with a strong interest in aid, about the topics you think should be high on its agenda. On the top of our list are: 1. The interaction between UK aid and FCDO diplomacy. 2. The evaluation and comparison of different delivery models. 3. The role of UK aid in promoting localisation. Over the next 12 months, we will explore models for scaling up LENS, a digital therapy aimed at reducing anxiety and depression and building resilience. This will include running a pilot with a corporate partner and designing a pilot for NHS staff.
