Today we host a farewell reception for Hanne Pedersen, who is retiring after 47 years of employment at AVK! At the age of 18, Hanne joined the factory in Galten as one of the first women in the industry. Many were surprised to see a woman operating the large machines, and AVK was visited by journalists who wrote about female employees in production. Hanne has been employed in the machining department all these years and has gained deep insight into the operation of our processing machines. She has contributed to the production of many different AVK products and has always welcomed new tasks. Hanne is highly regarded by her colleagues, who describe her as positive, welcoming and considerate. Her commitment and cheerful spirit have always been integral to AVK, and she has strived to ensure that everyone around her felt comfortable and supported. Congratulations to Brian Brandt on his 25-year anniversary at AVK! Brian started at the machine factory in Galten, Denmark, in 1999 and worked in several different departments before he started his apprenticeship as an industrial technician in the Machining Department, where he has been ever since. Brian is Supervisor in the department and over the years, he has also been safety officer and union representative for the skilled workers at AVK International. Brian is highly skilled, thorough and quality-conscious and is always striving to optimise the machining processes. He is very well-liked and helpful, so the colleagues often turn to Brian when they need assistance. 𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬-𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐊𝐞𝐧𝐲𝐚 💧🌍 This week, we had the honour to welcome Kenya's Cabinet Secretary for Water, Sanitation and Irrigation, Eric Murithi Mugaa, along with a delegation of directors from central government agencies and major utilities in Kenya. The visit was part of SSC Water Kenya, the Strategic Sector Cooperation between Denmark and Kenya, driven by the Danish Environmental Protection Agency and founded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark. The Kenyan delegation shared insights into Kenya's water challenges and needs, followed by a roundtable discussion focusing on opportunities for cooperation for driving sustainable water supply and climate adaptation initiatives in Kenya. Participants were, in addition to AVK and the Kenyan delegation, Kamstrup, Sweco Danmark, Bacess A/S, Simon Moos Maskinfabrik and TEMcompany. “Kenya is facing major challenges in relation to non-revenue water, and our technologies and high-quality valves can really make a difference. Given our longstanding relations to the African water industry, the recent visit to Denmark, led by the Minister for Water, Sanitation, and Irrigation, was a perfect opportunity to invite the delegation to AVK for a discussion about challenges and potential cooperation opportunities,” says Jan Ketley, Area Sales Manager, Africa, AVK International. A new wastewater pumping station in Riga, Latvia, is an important part of the modernisation of the city's water infrastructure. It replaces an outdated pumping station, and fully automated processes improve overall performance and reliability. The new pumping station uses significantly less electricity compared to the old facility, and total operational costs are reduced by approximately €0.5 million per year. Congratulations to Martin Vester on his 25-year work anniversary! Martin started in 1999 as a junior worker and completed his apprenticeship as a machine worker in 2004. Until 2016, he worked as a skilled operator at the machine factory in Galten, Denmark, after which he transitioned into the role of Quality Coordinator in the Quality Department. Here, he is responsible for handling complaints and providing support to the entire organisation on quality-related matters. In addition to his daily work, Martin actively takes part in arranging social activities at AVK. He is a highly skilled and well-liked colleague who is always ready to help wherever needed. Congratulations to Per Juul Hansen on his 40-year work anniversary! Per completed his apprenticeship as a machine worker at the machine factory in Galten, Denmark in 1983. After a brief departure, he returned to AVK in 1984, and after a period as a supervisor at AVK Aqua Gas Manufacturing in the UK, he came back to the factory in Galten. Here, he was employed in the tool department, and over the years, he has worked on everything from manufacturing rubber moulds on CNC machines to designing special machines and production equipment. Per is highly skilled and recognised for his construction abilities, and he is always the go-to colleague when advice is needed. He is very well-liked and takes great pride in delivering high-quality solutions.
