Electronic Communications Committee
Telekommunikation
Developing common policies and regulations in electronic communications and harmonising spectrum use across Europe.
Om os
We use our expertise to reduce spectrum scarcity and improve sharing and access to spectrum to enable the introduction of new technologies, whilst protecting existing ones. The Electronic Communications Committee (ECC) brings together 46 countries to develop common policies and regulations in electronic communications and related applications for Europe, and to provide the focal point for information on spectrum use. Its primary objective is to harmonise the efficient use of the radio spectrum, satellite orbits and numbering resources across Europe. It takes an active role at the international level, preparing common European proposals to represent European interests in the ITU and other international organisations. The ECC’s approach is strategic, open and forward-looking, and based on consensus between the member countries. It applies its expertise in partnership with all stakeholders, the European Commission and ETSI to facilitate the delivery of technologies and services for the benefit of society.

We welcome new chairs for ECC and WGSE! We are delighted to inform that Christiane Seifert (BNetzA, D) was appointed as the new Chair of the Electronic Communications Committee (ECC). Likewise, Ivica Stevanovic (BAKOM, CH) was appointed as the new Chair of the Working Group Spectrum Engineering (WGSE). Christiane and Ivica have many years of experience having served as Vice Chairs in their respective groups and we are fully confident being in excellent hands for leading the ECC and WGSE into the future. We look forward to their continued leadership and the positive impact they will undoubtedly have. We express our sincere thanks to the outgoing chairs Chris Woolford (Ofcom, UK) and Jerome Andre (ANFR, F) for their outstanding leadership, efforts and achievements. The ECC develops common policies and regulations in electronic communications and related applications for Europe and is a focal point for information on spectrum use. Our primary objective is to harmonise the efficient use of the radio spectrum, satellite orbits and numbering resources across Europe. We take an active role at the international level, preparing common European proposals to represent European interests in international organisations, especially in the ITU. The WG SE is responsible for developing technical guidelines and sharing and compatibility arrangements for radio spectrum use by various radiocommunications services using the same or different frequency bands respectively. The 2027 #ITU World Radiocommunication Conference entered also the scene and #CEPT started preparing its position on possible future #IMT bands. Eiman Bushra Mohyeldin, the CEPT co-chair of the Network of women for WRC-27 #NOW4WRC27, kicked off the initiative and presented some of the planned activities. But the busy agenda did not stop delegates exploring the beautiful city of Tallin and enjoying many nice moments of more relaxed talks that helped equally the progress of the work.
