We are delighted to announce three new professor appointments at the Department for Geosciences and Natural Resource Management. Congratulations and welcome into these new roles: Svava Riesto, Professor of the History and Theory of Landscape Architecture and Urbanism Henriette Steiner, Professor of the History and Theory of Landscape Architecture and Urbanism Anton Stahl Olafsson, Professor of Outdoor Recreation and Green Space Planning With these appointments, the Department strengthens its position as a unique interdisciplinary research environment across the natural sciences, social sciences and humanities, addressing complex issues in relation to natural areas, landscapes and cities. As professors, they wish to take on an even greater responsibility in building a strong and thriving research and study environment in their fields at the University of Copenhagen – and to continue to deepen and set new research agendas, in dialogue with academic and other societal partners. Further, they wish to contribute to the institutional development of the university itself in a time of change. #landscapearchitecture

- We provide knowledge and education so we can to help to solve the big societal challenges, such as climate change. - Our research focus on issues such as the consequences of, and ways of adapting to climate change, ensuring the availability of clean drinking water; energy and raw materials; management advice on natural environments and forests to secure biodiversity and ecosystem services. - We work with designing sustainable and liveable cities; economic and demographic changes in developing countries; and data from satellites, drones and geoinformatics. - We conduct research and teach within the Earth’s past, present and future physical, chemical and biological conditions and their interaction with society and people.
