📢 Today, we welcomed and named our newest dual-fuel vessel, A.P. Møller, in Singapore🇸🇬 Proudly named after our founder, Arnold Peter Møller, this vessel is the ninth in our fleet capable of sailing on methanol.   The naming ceremony, hosted by Robert Maersk Uggla, Chair of the Board of Directors and great-grandson to Arnold Peter Møller, welcomed esteemed guests from Singapore's maritime authorities, Maersk customers, and employees. We were honored to have Ms. Chan Su-Shan, spouse of Mr. Dilhan Pillay, CEO of Temasek, as the godmother of our new vessel, A.P. 🚢 News! Maersk has completed an order for 20 dual-fuel vessels as part of our fleet renewal plan announced in August! We've signed agreements with three shipyards. Each vessel, ranging from 9,000 to 17,000 TEU, will feature liquified gas dual-fuel propulsion systems. 📢 We have signed an SAF agreement with Lufthansa Cargo to promote the decarbonisation of airfreight by using Sustainable Aviation Fuel✈️ Lufthansa Cargo will use 400 metric tonnes of SAF on behalf of Maersk throughout the rest of 2024. The reduction in CO2 emissions is expected to be at least 1,200 metric tonnes.   Maersk will allocate the achieved emissions reduction to one of its European airfreight customers as part of its ECO Delivery Air product.   “Cutting greenhouse gas emissions from airfreight is one of the most challenging tasks within the decarbonization of global logistics and supply chains. 🎉🏗️ APM Terminals Suape breaks ground on Latin America's first 100% electrified container terminal. “Investments like this strengthen the Port of Suape. Our goal is to grow Suape by 5% this year, generating more jobs and income for the people of Pernambuco. This is a commitment from President Lula,” highlighted Minister of Ports and Airports Silvio Costa Filho. As part of the groundbreaking ceremony for the new terminal in Suape, Brazil, APM Terminals Americas Managing Director Leo Huisman, and Maersk East Coast of South America Managing Director Ricardo Rocha recently discussed this project and the current state of Brazilian port and logistics infrastructure with Valor Econômico S/A.   With an investment of R$1.6 billion, this terminal will increase capacity by 55%. "This project is a significant step forward for container transport in the region," said Ricardo Rocha. "It will support local businesses and improve connectivity."   Suape is one of three major projects currently under construction by APM Terminals, alongside Rijeka in Croatia and a new terminal in Vietnam. As the first fully electrified terminal in Latin America, Suape is a key part of our ambition to decarbonize operations and achieve net-zero emissions by 2040.   The new terminal is expected to create 400,000 TEUs of additional capacity, improve connectivity with expanded berthing windows, and provide enhanced global access for Pernambuco’s businesses. Leo Huisman said that, " increased capacity at Suape is expected to immediately benefit imports by reducing logistics costs and enhancing competitiveness for regional exporters.”   The ceremony was also attended by an esteemed group of officials and executives, including Silvio Costa Filho, Minister of Ports and Airports; Raquel Lyra, Governor of Pernambuco; Marcio Guiot, President of the Suape Industrial Port Complex.
