Floating offshore wind turbines? Absolutely! These turbines stand on floating platforms, allowing installation in deep waters where traditional fixed turbines can't reach. Anchored to the seabed, they harness the stronger, more stable winds found further offshore, generating more energy while reducing visual impact along the coastline. Our MHO Esbjerg crew recently had the chance to operate close to these impressive floating giants. Initially, it was a unique challenge positioning the vessel alongside them to stabilize the anchor chains. But once they got the hang of it, it went smoothly! The crew was based in Peterhead, Scotland, where both captains underwent specialized pilot training to navigate the tight harbor space safely. With limited room for maneuvering, deck crew kept constant watch to ensure the vessel could avoid contact with the docks or tight harbor points. Check out the video of MHO Esbjerg departing Peterhead harbor and see the two photos showcasing the impressive offshore wind turbines!

Sunset at Sea Working in the offshore industry isn't just about challenges; it's also about enjoying the quiet moments that few others get to experience. There's something truly special about being surrounded by the open sea while the sun slowly sets, painting the sky in beautiful shades of orange, red, and purple. Teamwork, camaraderie, and respect for the forces of nature are at the core of our daily lives. While the days can be long, they are filled with a sense of community and purpose as we contribute to something meaningful. Seeing the wind turbines standing majestically in the sunset reminds us why we've chosen this lifestyle. Have you experienced similar moments in the offshore industry? We'd love to hear your stories and share the joy of the incredible work we do! Share your experiences with us in the comments below. Photo taken by our Chief Officer, Artiom Žukovskij, on MHO Boreas.

MHO Balder recently completed a complex and critical engine replacement, where three of its motors were exchanged in record time. This task required close coordination between our experienced in-house mechanical team and the specialists from Autohuset Vester, an authorized Volvo Penta service provider. Through precise planning and outstanding technical skills, the motor replacement was carried out efficiently and safely. To provide an inside look at this process, our captain on MHO Balder took the initiative to document the entire operation in a timelapse video. This video showcases every phase of the replacement – from removing the old engines to installing the new ones – offering a behind-the-scenes view of the meticulous work involved. Watch the video and see how our team ensures that MHO Balder remains at peak performance, ready to meet the demands of our clients and the offshore wind industry.

Green Transition in Maritime Transport – MHO-Co and Volvo Penta Leading the Way At MHO-Co, we are proud to collaborate with Volvo Penta in creating the sustainable solutions of the future for the maritime industry. Together with Volvo Penta, we have already implemented two generations of future-proofed CTV vessels, combining diesel or HVO-powered gensets with battery technology to optimize our energy consumption. This flexibility allows us to gradually switch from one energy source to another with smaller investments, significantly reducing our CO2 emissions. We look forward to continuing our journey towards a greener future and playing an active role in the transition to sustainable solutions in shipping. Volvo Penta is actively developing solutions like Power-to-X and fuel cells, but already offers several technologies that can be tailored to different vessels and needs. At MHO-Co, we are proud to be part of this transformation, where innovation meets practical solutions. Let’s navigate toward a greener future together!
