Regional Manager, Nordics @ Monotree - Put people first📲

When we roll out our employee app at Monotree for companies transitioning from another provider, we often notice a pattern: It takes a bit longer to reach the expected level of engagement. Why? Because employees haven’t previously felt that an employee app could truly meet their needs. They’re used to a solution that hasn’t really worked for them. This means we need to build trust first – but once that happens, the difference is huge. When employees experience a platform that actually fits their daily work and makes communication easier and more valuable, engagement follows naturally. And that’s when we see the biggest successes. An employee app isn't just another digital tool - it's vital driver for fostering a community and culture inside the organisation. And the companies that succeed with this—guess what we see? A more connected workforce, better communication, and ultimately, a stronger company culture. Put people first🙏

Give your managers the tools they need to succeed. Your organization is run by the people on the ground - they are the ones taking care of your guests and customers - helping them succeed is one of the most important things you can do for your business in sectors such as hospitality, retail and service. Many things in Monotree are made specifically for managers, one of our most advanced features is our activity feed and notification system, that gives managers a live feed of things like, people completing onboarding, people missing onboarding deadlines, comments of to-do tasks, anniversaries, course completions and much more. The long term success of an employee app is 100% dependent on its value for all layers of your organization.

Buying a new tech platform for your organization is a big decision, especially if that product is used by everyone in your company. Make sure you test everything thoroughly. If something annoys you just a tiny bit, or if something is slow or buggy, this will annoy every single employee in your company and most likely render your new platform useless in the long run. Do you actually like the platform? Do you like how things work? Does it solve your problems? Is it intuitive? Get other stakeholders, like managers or employees, to test it out as well. Check out who you are partnering with—are they in it for the long run, or are they in it to sell it? It is your problem if the platform is sold and the new owners take things in a very different direction. Also, it is your employees' data. Is your new provider actually in charge of potentially sensitive data, or is it being processed by third parties? Many “tech” companies now act more like Amazon resellers—the product is a myriad of out-of-the-box solutions in the background. Just ask about sub-providers and get the response in writing.

I’ll be posting more frequently here on LinkedIn. My goal is to share more about Monotree—how we run our business, our journey so far, our vision, and how we help our customers every day. I’ll also touch on the bumps in the road and some personal insights relevant to Monotree. I enjoy following people who provide honest and meaningful insights into their businesses and areas of expertise. Inspired by them, I’ll aim to be as transparent as possible in my posts. The topics I’ll cover will relate to SaaS, building communities, driving engagement, and ensuring clean operations in service industries. That said, I’m not a fan of the "Facebookification" of LinkedIn, so you won’t find clickbait like family photos, or personal philosophies here. To kick things off, here’s a little something about the vision and idea behind Monotree.

  • We can’t wait to do this again. Thank you to everyone who came ❤️

Last week, Monotree hosted our first People and Community event, and it was a great experience. The idea behind these events is to bring our customers together, have a good time (with good food and drinks), and learn something from experts and from each other. These events are not about us or the Monotree platform; they are about sharing knowledge and insights on all things relating to People and Community. Open-ended questions with open-ended answers, such as "What is psychological safety, and how can we implement it?" were discussed — this was last week’s topic. I was honestly touched by the openness and willingness to share from the people who came to Manon Les Suits. It is safe to say that everyone left with food for thought. Special thanks to Anja Bourup, who was our expert speaker and led the panel talk. Thanks also to Jeppe, Anthon and Louise Leelo Nielsen for participating in the panel discussion. I personally really look forward to the next event. This is one of the ways we aim to give back to the community and our customers.

  • We are happy to introduce company cards! 🪪 This feature will make things like employee discounts, special offers, and certificates easily accessible for employees and simple for HQ to manage. Almost all of our customers have discount deals for their employees, but it is often a mess: everything from printed cards to awkward situations where employees have to prove their right to a discount to others. This is all over now.

  • Welcome Victor Hvid-Hansen 🙌🏻 🥳

When it comes to hiring people, we don’t "spray and pray" — we aim and fire. I feel incredibly fortunate that every single person we've invited to join Monotree has said yes, and I'm especially happy that this was also the case with Victor Hvid-Hansen. Victor is joining Monotree as a Product Specialist. He will play a crucial role in everything related to our product, our customers, and where the two intersect — where the rubber meets the road. I worked with Victor many years ago, and I always knew he could excel at whatever he chose to do in his professional life. Fortunately, he has a passion for both tech and people, which makes Monotree the perfect fit for him. I know he is the perfect fit for us. He’s already achieved things in the business intelligence space that I could never have done, so we're off to a great start. I look forward to the years ahead!

  • We have been so busy with new customers in the last couple of months, that we forgot to share some of the things we have been building. We are now live with: ✅ To-do lists statistics - Easily track completions and percentages of all departments and deep dive into specific lists and tasks. 🎉 Anniversary notifications - Global widget for HQ and in app notifications for department managers. 🔒 Blocking pop ups - If you have important messages, make sure people don't miss it. And within a month we will release a brand new large feature that we have never seen in an employee app before - solving a major hassle for many of our customers. 🪪

  • We’re excited to announce the launch of our new website, which, like everything we do, was crafted entirely by us. We’re proud of how it turned out, as it reflects not only our product, but also our values, our customers and the way we run our business. Mint green is the new black.
