In collaboration with Nordic microbes, we're developing a method and formulation to improve the survival and shelf life of the bio-stimulant, which helps farmers increase crop yields, reduce fertilizer use, store carbon in the soil, and combat crop diseases— all in an eco-friendly way.
Currently, the product is in liquid form with a shelf life of just 3 weeks. This limits its usability and creates logistical challenges, resulting in product waste.
To create a shelf-stable formulation that preserves the bacteria's effectiveness, we've been working on drying the bacteria. The challenge? These bacteria are very sensitive and don’t form spores, making it tough to preserve them through drying.
Through countless experiments with protective agents and drying techniques, we've faced setbacks but also celebrated victories. 𝗪𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝟮𝟬% 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗿𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 — a huge improvement from our initial 1% 🚀
– This breakthrough makes it economically possible to launch a dried, stabilized form of our product. We're now focused on rigorous shelf-life testing and field validation to ensure the dried product delivers the same powerful benefits as the liquid formulation, explains Morten Ø. Andersen, CEO at Nordic microbes.
