  • How do we turn CO2 from a challenge into an opportunity? At Ocean Valley, we’re exploring solutions like Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) to drive sustainability in the maritime sector. Our latest workshop brought together 28 experts from the Øresund Region to discuss how CCUS can be scaled through collaboration and shared infrastructure. Together, we have the potential to make the region a global leader in green innovation.

  • There’s no shortage of ambitious initiatives working with Carbon Capture, Utilisation, and Storage (CCUS) in the Øresund Region. But here’s the thing – we’re missing a dedicated forum where these efforts can come together, where we can learn from one another, share insights, and collectively push this emerging sector forward. That’s exactly why we gathered for the first CCUS cross-border workshop last week. It was an inspiring day filled with collaboration, fresh ideas, and a shared determination to make the Øresund Region a leader in CCUS. By working together, we can build a stronger ecosystem, overcome barriers, and create real, lasting impact for the climate. In collaboration with Copenhagen Malmö Port and E.ON, we are launching a forum to foster collaboration among companies, startups, authorities and institutions working with CCUS in the Øresund Region. Thanks to all the workshop particpants who contributed to finding synergies across Øresund: E.ON, Copenhagen Malmö Port, Svitzer, Öresundskraft AB, Normod Carbon, decarbonice, DTU - Technical University of Denmark, Green Cargo, Nordion Energi, Ramboll, Green Power Denmark, Växjö Energi AB, EY, Green2x, Ørsted, HOFOR, ARC – Amager Ressourcecenter The project is co-financed by Interreg Öresund-Kattegat-Skagerrak

  • Building a Sustainable Maritime Future in the Øresund Region Ocean Valley is where innovation meets action in the pursuit of a sustainable maritime future. Situated in the Øresund Region, a unique crossroads between Denmark and Sweden, Ocean Valley brings together industry leaders, innovators, researchers, and policymakers to tackle one of the most pressing challenges of our time: reducing CO2 emissions and accelerating the green transition in the maritime sector. We believe that collaboration is the key to transformation. By bridging the gap between the blue (maritime) and green (sustainable) industries, Ocean Valley creates a platform where cutting-edge technologies, such as Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS), can thrive. Our mission is simple yet ambitious: to solve local challenges, scale global solutions, and position the Øresund Region as a world leader in sustainable maritime innovation. What do you think is the biggest challenge in achieving a sustainable maritime future?

  • Kicking Off the First CCUS Cross Border Initiative in the Øresund Region On Friday, we brought together 27 partners from across the Øresund Region to explore collaboration opportunities in Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS). The energy in the room was undeniable, and it’s clear that cross collaboration is the way forward if we want to establish the Øresund Region as a global leader in CCUS. Here are some of the key takeaways from the workshop: 1️⃣ There’s a strong interest in collaboration across the Øresund Region, with stakeholders eager to join forces and identify CCUS synergies. 2️⃣ Broad agreement that CCUS efforts must cross borders to be effective and scalable. 3️⃣ Collaboration has clear advantages, including: - Improved funding opportunities - Stronger business cases - A unified voice in regulatory discussions - Better integration across the CCUS value chain We’re excited to see the CCUS Workshop was a great succes and can’t wait to build on this momentum in the coming months. Want to join the CCUS cross border initiative or stay updated on upcoming workshops? Drop a comment below, and we’ll be in touch! • The Øresund Region, connecting Denmark and Sweden, has a unique advantage when it comes to tackling large-scale climate challenges like CO2 emissions. With its mix of innovative industries, advanced research hubs, and strong cross-border cooperation, Øresund is the perfect environment to pioneer solutions in Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS).   Here’s why CCUS is a game-changer for the Øresund Region and beyond:   🌍 Urgent Climate Impact: From energy production to manufacturing and transport, industries across the region generate significant carbon emissions. Reducing these emissions is essential to meeting global climate goals. CCUS technology captures CO2 directly from these sources, turning what was once a challenge into a chance for transformative climate action.   👨💼 👩💼 Regional Strength: The Øresund Region is known for its strong foundation of innovation, supportive policy landscape, and collaborative industry partnerships. This gives us a unique ability to make CCUS both feasible and scalable, creating a model for carbon reduction that can inspire action globally.   💰 🌳 Economic and Environmental Benefits: Developing CCUS infrastructure in Øresund opens doors to both environmental and economic progress. This technology can drive new job creation, stimulate the growth of green industries, and position Øresund as a global leader in sustainable solutions – from interim carbon storage facilities to CO2-based products and green fuels.   That’s why we’re hosting a CCUS workshop – bringing together top experts and partners from across the region to take meaningful steps toward a sustainable future.

  • Climate change is one of the most pressing challenges of our time, and it demands innovative solutions that address emissions across all sectors – including maritime. That’s why Ocean Valley is gathering a cluster within Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) not only to transform maritime operations but also to contribute to a larger vision of a sustainable future. CCUS isn’t just about capturing carbon; it’s about rethinking how we use it. Captured CO2 can be converted into valuable products, from synthetic fuels to building materials. Investing in CCUS opens up new markets, creating economic growth and green jobs – essential for a sustainable and competitive economy. This is why Ocean Valley is hosting a CCUS workshop – to bring together the brightest minds and strongest partners across the Øresund Region to take meaningful steps toward a sustainable future. We already have 27 partners signed up for the workshop – but if you’re interested in receiving the workshop results directly in your inbox, just write “Capture” in the comments below, and we’ll send you the full report with our findings. The CCUS Cluster is initiated by Ocean Valley in Close Collaboration with E.ON and Copenhagen Malmö Port. The project is cofinanced by Interreg Öresund-Kattegat-Skagerrak.
