Is the steel industry changing? The demand certainly seems to be. A new report by Climate Group and Ramboll reveals that demand for lower-emission steel is surging - uncovering that 57% of surveyed steel offtakers are willing to pay a premium for lower-emission steel, and the majority expect it to become the standard for future projects. Are you curious to learn more about the 2024 market outlook for lower-emission steel? 👉 Get the full report here: https://lnkd.in/eXDF7-e8 With steel production responsible for 8% of global emissions, its urgent decarbonisation is critical to meeting the Paris Agreement's goals. Let’s close the gap to a sustainable future with lower-emission steel. #LetsCloseTheGap #PartnerForSustainableChange #Steel #Sustainability

Vuosaaren biolämpölaitos on palkittu Vuoden Teräsrakenne -palkinnolla.

7% of global CO2 emissions are produced by the cement industry 🌍 Unlike other sectors, cement production cannot be decarbonised by using alternative materials or renewable energy sources alone. So, what can be done? Carbon capture, utilisation, and storage (CCUS) is currently the only scalable solution to capture CO2 at the source in cement production. Together, we can help you navigate the complexities of CCUS technology integration, regulations, and procurement. How can the construction industry make strides toward a net-zero future? 🏗️🌎 A new whitepaper, “A Path to Alignment in the Built Environment,” developed in collaboration with WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development, Autodesk, and six leading architecture, engineering, and construction firms—including Ramboll—explores the challenges and opportunities of conducting whole life carbon (WLC) analysis using BIM data. The whitepaper aims to identify common challenges and best practice in the building carbon assessment process, particularly with respect to the use of BIM data. Ultimately the aim is to support a standardised, transparent, and consistent approach to WLC analysis. To illustrate this, the working group conducted an embodied carbon assessment of a fictitious building project, Snowdon Towers, with each company adopting their own BIM workflows and processes. The result has been eye-opening, identifying the commonalities in approach as well as some surprising differences. The white paper lays groundwork for further improvements in the process and potential industry-wide adoption. Congratulations to Ramboll’s Paul Astle, Monica Lucas, Robert Cairns and Paul Jeffries for their contribution to this innovative report. Monica will also present Ramboll's contribution during a panel discussion at a virtual event at COP 29 on 21 Nov at 9am GMT. K2 Management is now formally part of Ramboll! On Friday, 1 November, the acquisition of K2 Management by Ramboll formally closed. This much-awaited milestone allows both teams to come together in delivering combined wind and solar services to clients and provide an even stronger set-up moving forward. The announcement of acquiring K2 Management was made in August, with the completion of the transaction pending customary regulatory approvals, which have now been received. With this step, K2 Management is from now formally part of the Ramboll Group. “In the coming months we will start to align our business practises closer, and work to integrate the best from each of us to ensure that our team continues to provide the high-quality services our clients and stakeholders know and respect us for. We expect to be in full operation as one combined global Ramboll Wind division during H1 2025” says Tim Fischer, Director for Ramboll’s global Wind division. Following the acquisition, Ramboll's global Wind division encompasses over 900 dedicated experts across 20 countries, adding now also new local presences in Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan, and Portugal. With the new setup, Ramboll is making significant progress towards its target of expanding its global wind business to over 1,000 experts by 2025 in response to growing demand on the global wind market. #LetsCloseTheGap #WindEnergy

Celebrating Halloween’s spookiest stars - the bugs and bats that keep nature in balance! 🕷️🎃 Today, we’re calling on you to embrace the ‘creepy’ creatures that keep ecosystems thriving with these simple ways to promote biodiversity: 🌱 Keep pockets of your garden wild. Wild gardens help pollinators, like butterflies, beetles, and bees mature and thrive because of the shelter and variety of food they can enjoy in these kinds of environments.   🐝 Next year, wait to mow your lawn until mid-summer. Pollinators (like butterflies, beetles, and bees) mature and thrive in unkempt grass, where native plants grow and provide shade and shelter. So, leaving your grass wild gives hibernating pollinators time to safely emerge and start on their essential work.   👕 Buy second-hand instead of new. By consuming less new stuff you reduce the demand for virgin materials which reduces land-use and resource-extraction pressures around the world. This helps protect and even restore nature.   🍌 Buy organic as much as possible. Buying organic foods and products helps limit the negative impacts of commercial agriculture and consumer goods production on the environment.    🌸 Buy locally grown flowers instead of imported ones. Commercially grown flowers require a lot of water and pesticides. Considerable CO2 emissions are also produced in transporting them from farm to point-of-sale.   Let’s turn our Halloween spirit into a year-round love for nature’s spookiest creatures 💚 #LetsCloseTheGap #Halloween #Biodiversity
