"Being one of Denmark's oldest design companies, it is a great honour for Royal Copenhagen that HM Queen Margrethe accepted the invitation to mark our 250th anniversary with her creativity and passion for craftsmanship, ready to be enjoyed by many. We are excited that this commemorative mug marks the beginning of a very special year of celebrating our history and heritage." - Jasper Toron Nielsen, Creative Director, Royal Copenhagen. In celebration of Royal Copenhagen’s 250th anniversary, we are honoured to introduce the Anniversary Mug, illustrated by HM Queen Margrethe of Denmark. A Limited-Edition piece, the Anniversary Mug is born from Her Majesty’s creative genius, beautifully decorated with two charming fish: "It is a pleasure for me to take part in celebrating Royal Copenhagen's 250 years of Danish craftsmanship and design. The cup's motif is inspired by a fish I painted in France many years ago. I have always been fond of it, and I think the hand-painted decoration looks so lovely on the fluted porcelain.“ - HM Queen Margrethe https://lnkd.in/dZKcw7-8

A veritable walking encyclopedia of porcelain, Royal Copenhagen’s heritage manager Steen Nottelmann has worked with porcelain since the 1970s. He joined the house when it merged with Bing & Grøndahl in 1987 and has curated exhibitions across the world and in-house ever since. Nottelmann has also collaborated with Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark on a Flora Danica room at Christian VII’s Palace. “I don’t think there’s anything wrong with things being a bit formal and that people feel as if they’re buying a part of something they can’t get just around the corner. You feel so rich. But you feel rich as a result of the history of something that actually isn’t your own. That sense of enjoyment is something I hope that people have when they take a cup out of the cupboard.” - Steen Nottelmann, Heritage Manager

250 Years - And Still Making Waves 🌊 In 2025, we celebrate 250 years of Royal Copenhagen—and the three iconic waves that have graced every piece of our porcelain since 1775. For 250 years, these cobalt waves have symbolized the essence of Danish craftsmanship, enduring traditions, and the timeless beauty of artisanal design. Join us as we honour this milestone, sharing our rich history and unveiling new iconic creations throughout the year.

For the 61st year in a row, Royal Copenhagen has opened its doors to the annual Christmas exhibition, which this year presents an exciting mix of art installations and table settings that celebrate the magic of creating something for yourself and the joy of using both your hands and your imagination. Three colourful artistic personalities, who all work in the crossover between art and craftmanship, have created their own inspiring Christmas universe. Veronica Hodges, Julius Værnes Iversen and Poppykalas, alias Thilde Maria Haukohl Kristensen share their holiday dreams and the traditions they have either brought with them or established for themselves. The exhibition is open until 31 December in our Flagship Store at Amagertorv 6.

A Reimagined Porcelain Universe at Amagertorv 6 We are proud to unveil the newly redesigned Royal Copenhagen flagship store, a space where tradition and innovation come together to celebrate the artistry of porcelain. In collaboration with esteemed architects Mathias Mentze and Alexander Ottenstein, we have created a modern experiential universe that respects our rich heritage while embracing the future. “It has been a real pleasure to move the building and our store into a new story that points both back in history and forward to new adventures. We chose to work with Mentze Ottenstein because we knew they would have a great understanding and love for our history and craftsmanship, and be able to beautifully translate it into a contemporary context,” says Jasper Nielsen, Creative Director of Royal Copenhagen. Every detail reflects the craft of porcelain making, from hues inspired by plaster molds and glazes to brass accents representing our iconic three waves. Custom porcelain tiles, crafted by our artisans in Glostrup, add a unique touch, blending tradition with modern design. Come and experience our reimagined porcelain universe at Amagertorv 6 💙
