Smarter, greener and cheaper electricity consumption

Om os

True Energy - owned by Landis+Gyr - is a tech-company that makes power consumption smarter, greener and cheaper through automation of EV-charging, use of appliances and balancing the grid – just to name a few. Electricity must be used when produced. Unfortunately, the weather does not care that we need more power from 5 pm to 8 pm and less during the night. This means that we must supplement the green power with power from power plants during peak hours, while green power is lost during the night. True Energy is smart grid integrated and works to balance electricity consumption through our intelligent and automated solution. Our technology optimizes the combined electricity consumption by levering the flexibility of Electric Vehicles charging, Smart Home device usage, Solar Panel electricity production and Heat pumps. This means that more green energy is used and the need for energy from power plants is minimized.

  • Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems (DERMS) could be set for center stage in 2025 – is your utility ready? ⚡️ Rapid growth of renewables like solar panels, wind turbines, EVs, battery storage, and more means utilities face the challenge of managing more decentralized energy resources (DERs) than ever before. Making this complexity manageable, enabling smarter integration of renewables, and ensuring the grid stays efficient and reliable requires upgrades across operations. To do that, utilities need real-time data optimization and seamless coordination across energy assets. That is one of the underlying reasons why we see DERMS solutions as essential for maximizing energy flexibility and supporting innovative ways to balance supply and demand – and why the DERMS market is forecast to grow by a CAGR of 18.8% between 2024-2029. 📈 ( GlobeNewswire: https://lnkd.in/dxSpYCpc ) Governments around the world recognize the strain that utilities and the grid face as energy demands and complexity keep growing. For example, in the US 🇺🇸, where 78% of recent requested investments in grid modernization were approved. Globally, investments in grid digitalization will grow from US$81 billion in 2024 to US$152 billion in 2030. 💸 ( Business News This Week: https://lnkd.in/du6Tvbdc) Sustainability is also a huge driver, as DERMS helps utilities integrate low-carbon technologies like EVs and battery storage into the grid while avoiding costly infrastructure upgrades. The ability to activate customer-provided flexibility and optimize energy flows makes DERMS a win-win for both the environment and the bottom line. 🌱 In other words, utilities recognize the need for DERMS solutions, such as those provided by Landis+Gyr in collaboration with OATI. These are among the reasons why we see 2025 as shaping up to be a breakthrough year for DERMS. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below. 💬 #DERMS #EnergyTransition #SmartGrid

  • ⚡ Do you agree with our views on distributed energy resources?  What are your views on the future of DERs? Let us know in the comments below. 👇 If we were to pick three words to describe the near future for energy grids, they would probably be intelligent, decentralized – and stressed. This is why we think distributed energy resources (DERs) are set for a bright 2025 and beyond. 🌟 Here are some of the main reasons for that:  🌍 Globally, energy grids are under stress from increased electricity needs and a fundamental change toward a two-way system where energy flows to and from consumers. 🚗 As distributed energy, electric vehicles, and energy management systems continue to gain traction, more consumers, especially in the commercial and industrial segment, will consider securing some or most of their electricity needs from on-site generation and storage. 📈 Pushing that trend along are rising electricity rates and connection backlogs that make it more complex and expensive to connect solar, EV charging infrastructure and more to the grid. 🌞 In some places, including several US states, it is already cheaper to produce energy “off-grid,” for many consumers. (Energy Changemakers https://lnkd.in/e8ZtHCyU ) 💰 We also expect price competitiveness of DERs like solar, wind turbines, and storage to continue rising. In many instances, they will be the cheapest option for energy production and security for utilities, consumers, and prosumers (individuals or companies that produce energy). 📊 Perhaps most importantly, DERs are necessary for utilities and grid operators to stay competitive – and in some case perhaps even to stay functional. Current grid infrastructure is not equipped to handle the impact of AI and data centres, along with general growing electrification and the rise of EVS, which push energy needs skyward. Building out grids to handle the situation is time-consuming and expensive – and often not the optimal solution. (POWER magazine https://lnkd.in/efVTe-YY ) 🔄 Finding ways of solving these issues requires new ways of meeting demands at a local level through decentralised energy solutions like DERs, supported by smart energy management systems like DERMS. ✅ It should be said that many utilities are already moving toward this decentralised future by integrating smart, software-based energy solutions like those supplied by True Energy - a Landis+Gyr Company and Landis+Gyr. 💬 What do you think? What are your views on the future of DERs? Let us know in the comments below. 👇 #EnergyTransition #DERs #SmartEnergy

  • Five energy facts to consider for the year ahead ⚡   See how rising EV adoption, renewables, energy flexibility services and more can help shape strategy for a sustainable, resilient, and profitable future for energy companies. 📈 Below are five facts we believe are crucial to consider for future success: Fact 1️⃣ : Growth in EVs  In 2018, two per cent of cars sold worldwide were electric vehicles or plug-in hybrids. By 2024, that number had climbed to 20 per cent.   Continued EV growth makes it crucial for energy companies to find ways to turn the vehicles into a central energy asset. Fact 2️⃣ : Renewables keep advancing  Between now and 2030, as much as 5.5 terawatts of renewable energy capacity could be added to global grids. That equals a 2.7 times increase in overall capacity. One of the challenges for energy companies is managing the added renewable energy capacity optimally.  Fact 3️⃣ : Grid backlogs prove a stumbling block  In the US alone, grid backlogs, mostly consisting of solar, wind, battery, and EV-related projects and assets, reached 2,600 GW in 2023, showing no signs of slowing. Elsewhere, similar issues exist.  New, large-scale projects play a crucial role, but there is an immediate need for alternative, innovative approaches to optimise the use of existing infrastructure and energy assets. Fact 4️⃣ : New energy solutions proving their worth  Combinations of different systems and leveraging advanced systems like DERMS and energy flexibility are showing great results. For example, in Texas, solar power and battery systems negated the expected impacts of an August heat wave.  Orchestrating dispersed energy resources is key to achieving such results.    Fact 5️⃣ : Energy and grid challenges abound  Energy prices and supplies will likely see 2025 fluctuations to rival 2024. Similarly, global energy grids face extensive upgrade needs, projected to reach trillions of dollars. With the above facts in mind, it is no wonder that energy companies are looking for alternative approaches and ways to optimise existing infrastructure. These are some of the areas that True Energy - a Landis+Gyr Company and Landis+Gyr address through our one-stop shop of energy flexibility solutions.   We look forward to revealing many new, exciting features throughout the year. So, stay tuned!  👇 What trends or challenges are shaping your 2025 roadmap? Share your thoughts in the comments! 👇 #EnergyFlexibility #FutureEnergy #Solar #WindEnergy #Battery #EVs
