🌍 Advancing Climate Transparency in Samoa 🌍 UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre recently supported #Samoa in strengthening its climate transparency through a training on the Greenhouse Gas Abatement Cost Model (#GACMO) tool. Held in partnership with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE), the training strengthened the skills and knowledge necessary for effective #climatedata collection, analysis, and reporting. During the training, participants from government ministries, development partners, and technical institutions engaged in practical sessions. 👉The GACMO tool is free to use, comes with online tutorials, and can be downloaded here: https://lnkd.in/dgfT_fpV Following the GACMO training, this week a dedicated training on the Initiative for Climate Action Transparency (ICAT) Renewable Energy Guide has been conducted for representatives from MNRE, the Ministry of Finance (MoF), and the Electric Power Corporation (EPC), ensuring alignment between #climateaction and national #energy planning. 📊 Transparent data and strong MRV systems are key to achieving ambitious climate goals, and Samoa is taking important steps forward. Aiymgul Kerimray, Ivana Audia
Sincere thanks to UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre Aiymgul Kerimray and MNRE team Toiata Apelu-Uili for all the support during the ICAT GACMO workshop over the last three days at Taumeasina. 🌍 Exciting News: GISCOR Joins the SOLCO Partnership in Nigeria!✨ We are thrilled to welcome Grassroot Initiative for Strengthening Community Resilience (GISCOR) to the Solar Electric Cooking (#SOLCO) Partnership! 🤝 🔥GISCOR has been a key player in advancing climate action in Northeast Nigeria, including training conflict-affected communities in Konduga, Damboa, and Ngala. In these areas, women face severe risks of abduction and violence when collecting firewood - highlighting the urgent need for safer, more sustainable cooking alternatives. 🌿By expanding access to cleaner cooking solutions, through implementing a project under the SOLCO Partnership, GISCOR will help protect vulnerable groups - particularly women - and reduce environmental degradation caused by reliance on firewood. 🤲 With GISCOR’s expertise and deep community trust , alongside national lead for SOLCO Nigeria Mission East and the strategic support from SOLCO Global leads UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre, Last Mile Climate, and Global Platform for Action (GPA) for action , SOLCO is strengthening efforts to bring sustainable energy solutions to some of those who need them most in Nigeria. We look forward to working together to drive lasting change! ⚡ #CleanCooking #SolarCooking #EnergyAccess #ClimateActionPartnerships #WomenEmpowerment #Nigeria #Sustainability #ProtectingCommunities #GreenSolutions #SOLCOPartnership IKEA Foundation, Robert Bosch Stiftung
