A focus on ultra-processed food - a chemical buffet of unhealthy side-effects. 🌭 🥫 🧃 2025 is here and for many a new year also means a healthier diet and getting rid of bad habits. One of these bad habits that many people tend to have is eating a lot of ultra-processed food, maybe without even knowing. In the podcast "Genstart" from 17/12/24, host Anna Ingrisch, together with food editor at Politiken Mette Mølbak, puts ultra-processed food under the microscope, and one of their important messages is, that we not only find chemical ingredients in ready-made meals and unhealthy snacks, but they are also found in many of the everyday products we do not consider problematic. It is therefore worth taking an extra close look at the ingredient list of the products in your shopping cart if you are curious about, what you are actually putting in your mouth and feeding your microbiome. "It is extremely important to relate to what you eat, precisely because it is so important to relate to what kind of gasoline we pour into our tank. Start with the general dietary advice such as lots of vegetables, whole grains, legumes, fatty fish and lean meat, you'll be well on your way." Mette Mølbak says. Listen to the episode here:

Unseen Bio is introducing the groundbreaking product Digital Gut within the preventive healthcare industry. Your gut consists of a unique and vast ecosystem of microorganisms; the gut microbiome. Bacteria, viruses, and fungi thrive here and they are specialized in coexisting with you. Jointly they perform a variety of tasks that remarkably influence the health and wellbeing of their host - you. In the past, little attention has been paid to the gut microbiome but this new booming scientific field suggests the role of the microbiome as a means to prevent, predict and treat conditions in the bowel and other parts of the human body. Today understanding, maintaining, and optimizing your highly individual gut microbiome is the future for good health, wellbeing, and body performance. We unleash the health tech potential of stool data by analyzing the gut microbiota using next generation gut bacteria sequencing. Unseen Bio is a Danish biotech company.

Happy holidays! ✨ The Christmas holidays are upon us, and all of us at Unseen Bio wants to wish everyone a merry Christmas, maybe even with a visit from Santa like Unseen Bio had with presents and Christmas cake for the team. 🎅 🎁 Here we’re not only having microbiome in the gut, we also have it so much on the brain, that we decorate the Christmas three with our test. 🎄 We know the holiday doesn’t promote a gut healthy diet, but a big portion of the warm red cabbage or some extra tangerines actually benefits the gut microbiome, so do enjoy your Christmas dinner. 🍊 Thank you to everyone who has joined our microbiome journey – we hope you have a happy Christmas and a happy gut. ☃️ 🦠

🌿 Unlocking the Power of Dietary Fibers 🌟 The Unseen Bio team recently had the privilege of diving into the science of dietary fibers with a presentation by Dr. Marie-Luise Puhlmann postdoctoral researcher in nutrition, gut microbiome and metabolomics on her PhD “Back to the chicory roots - Dietary fibers rediscovered to benefit human health" Her findings painted a compelling picture of how dietary fibers influence our gut and overall health. 🥗 Dietary fibers, the backbone of plant foods, play a vital role in health—especially through their interaction with our gut microbiome. While much of the research focuses on isolated fibers, Dr. Marie-Luise Puhlmann emphasized the importance of natural, intrinsic fiber structures—those found in whole, minimally processed plant foods. - Fiber Entanglement: Naturally occurring fibers, embedded in plant cell walls, ferment differently and more slowly than isolated ones, leading to unique health benefits. - Holistic Approach: Keeping foods closer to their natural state maximizes these benefits, advocating for minimal processing and whole-food consumption. 🌱 The particular study was done with dried chicory root in people at risk for type 2 diabetes and concluded that dried chicory root: - improves bowel function - increases beneficial gut bacteria - boosts short-chain fatty acids - particularly butyrate - which are critical for gut a metabolic health - improves blood sugar control 🚀 Dr. Marie-Luise Puhlmann’s study highlight the need to rethink how we consume and study dietary fibers. A focus on whole, minimally processed foods can unlock the full potential of fibers to improve gut health and metabolic function. Thank you for the very interesting presentation. 👉 Read the full PhD here: https://lnkd.in/dJ6yDWZC #MicrobiomeScience #GutHealth #DietaryFibers #Type2Diabetes #FunctionalFoods #UnseenBio

A little over a week ago our COO Jens Gandløse and CTO Christian Lieven came home from a week of interesting and insightful experiences at the Silicon Valley Health Tech Accelerator with a backpack full of new learnings, inspiring stories, and an expanded network of other great health tech innovators. 🚀 And Happy birthday to Jens today 🎉
#UnseenBio #HealthTech #Innovation #SiliconValley

🎉 Happy birthday to us! 🎉 6 years ago, the journey began, when Johan Bruun Hartmann and Jens Gandløse decided to create a business with the purpose of improving the individual health and Unseen Bio was born. From there the journey has evolved into spreading the knowledge of gut microbiome health and to help other companies with testing, analyzing and publishing the microbiome results of their products, so they can optimize their knowledge and create even better products. It’s been a long way since the toilet test in DTU, and we would like to thank everyone who has been onboard with us so far, from co-partners, employers and collaborators, to customers, business partners and health partners. We are looking forward to the journey that lies ahead. ✨ Today we celebrated this with a lunch out from the office and some dessert to make our sugar loving bacteria Firmicutes happy. 🍰

The "incomprehensible" gut insight 🔬 The focus on gut health is becoming more and more popular. Today in the DR podcast "Ubegribeligt" the host Huxi Bach is talking to clinical professor in enterology Christian Lodberg Hvas on why the gut and the microbiome has an enormous effect on your life and health. This emphasizes, why having an insight into your gut helps you to better understand yourself and your own well-being. ✨
