🌊 Building a Knowledge Innovation Community in Water, Marine & Maritime 🌊 Facing challenges like coastal corrosion, droughts, flooding, aging infrastructure, workforce gaps, and insufficient investments, the water, marine, and maritime sectors require our collective innovation and collaboration. On Tuesday, November 5, 2024, interested partners in the #Allwaters consortium gathered in Brussels to collaboratively identify challenges and co-create strategic objectives for the upcoming EIT - European Institute of Innovation and Technology EIT Water, Marine and Maritime KIC. 31 participants from 17 countries brought in both energy and dedication to evolve the needed innovation and joint collaboration to common strategic programs within an EIT consortia. Thank you to our inspiring introductory speakers. Your expertise and passion played an important role in driving the meetings discussions forward: Mateo Ivanac, Digital innovation HUB Innovamare, Christoph Hauer, University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU), Martin Tillotson, University of Leeds, Thomas Track, DECHEMA, Pernille Weiss-Ehler, Member of The European Parliament (EPP) 2019-24 In the coming months, we'll refine our outcomes through working groups, aligning them with the anticipated EIT call in January 2025. Concurrently, we'll establish the partnership and governance structures of our consortia. #Allwaters was initiated by Water Valley Denmark, Grundfos Foundation | PDJF, and Aarhus University, aiming to build a diverse ecosystem of partners across Europe, each bringing unique perspectives and strengths. Together, we are addressing all aspects of water — from clean drinking water to our vast oceans. MUDP Innovation Partnership addresses PFAS Challenges 🤝 So far, it has been a fast process on analyzing PFAS, setting quality limits and testing treatment technologies. The innovation partnership on environmental contaminants funded by #MUDP is developing a catalogue on treatment technologies and hosted their last workshop focusing on PFAS. Stakeholders from authorities, consultant engineers, utilities and technology companies were gathered to consolidate the learnings on reducing PFAS in water bodies. It is complex to reduce PFAS, since degradation compounds can be more toxic and there are more challenges to solve or improve: ⚡safe low detection analysis methods ⚙️degradation of short-chained PFASs 💧how to purify large volumes of water ♻️treatment solutions with effect on multiple contaminants Ongoing projects are working on PFAS issues in drinking water, leachate from landfills, wastewater & sludge. A very interactive program and interesting for our Pia Jacobsen to take part in discussions where insights and challenges were shared across the water and waste sector. #MUDP expect to establish an Innovation Partnership on Technical Water in 2025. Water Valley Denmark will also open for new challenge driven innovations in 2025. Reach out to Pia Jacobsen if you have ideas for themes.
