The extension of Immunoallergology Dzurilla s.r.o. in the city of Nitra was undertaken to ensure that the facility’s infrastructure and equipment could keep up with its expanding health care activities.
Extending to meet health care needs in Nitra
- 17 October 2011
The extension aimed to expand the facility’s capacity for treating ‘Group 5’ diseases, in particular to increase the number of preventive inspections and operations. The ‘Group 5’ diseases include circulatory system diseases, carcinomas, external causes of diseases and deaths, respiratory system diseases, and digestive system diseases. Thanks to the project, a number of new mobile units have been established at the facility, including pneumology, oncology, clinical immunology and allergology (KIA) and ophthalmology with a surgery unit.
Going above and beyond environmental and safety standards
The project ensures that the newly extended facility meets the highest standards in safety, accessibility, energy efficiency and air purity.
Carried out in accordance with national and EU safety and environmental legislation, the construction works and technical design ensure that all newly built ambulances and the premises of the one-day eye surgery are equipped with personal computers, electric fire signals, evacuation broadcast equipment, an alarm and camera system. Out of the 23 personal computers that are part of laboratory analysers, six were acquired within the scope of this project.
Additionally, energy efficient materials used during the extension works ensure that the facility will meet high energy performance standards. The operational block has been equipped with heavy duty HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) technology that goes above and beyond the air purity requirements, ensuring superior air quality for patients and minimising the risk of surgical infections. Accessibility also played a major role in the planning - the construction of a lift has now ensured barrier-free access into all newly built premises.
A first for Slovakia
The extension and furnishing of individual ambulances and the construction of a laboratory and an operation block for eye surgery means that the Immunoallergology Dzurilla team can now carry out an increased number of preventive inspections and operations for ‘Group 5’ diseases. The patients they serve are benefiting from something quite unique within Slovakia - an onco-immunology centre connected to specialisations such as pneumology, ophthalmology and others.
The project has also allowed the facility to recruit an additional 12 employees - five doctors, six nurses and one enrolled nurse. To date, these positions have been filled by nine women and three men, in accordance with the principle of equal treatment and prevention of discrimination.
