MUMBAI: An argument over the collision between two vehicles, one of which belonged to a Shiv Sena minister, led to a mini riot with several shops and vehicles getting vandalised in Paldhi village in Jalgaon on December 31. The Jalgaon district administration has imposed curfew in the village.

Shiv Sena minister Gulabrao Patil's family members were travelling in a cavalcade and entering Jalgaon through Paldhi village when one of the vehicles allegedly hit another vehicle driven by a local villager. The incident soon led to an argument and blows were exchanged.

While Gulabrao Patil himself was not present in the vehicle, his family members, including his wife, were present. The incident happened at around 10 pm and the two groups resorted to stone pelting which led to several vehicles and shops being vandalised.

Paldhi village has a huge minority community population and fearing that the issue might soon result in communal violence, the district administration sent in a huge contingent of forces to the spot.

"Yesterday, a skirmish between two groups was reported at around 9.45 pm. We rushed in the Superintendent of Police, additional SP, two sub divisional officers and the tehsildar to the spot to bring the situation under control immediately. At 3 am on Wednesday, we decided to impose curfew till 6 am on Thursday as a preventive measure. We are holding meetings with the elders and the peace committee to ensure there is no further untoward incident," said Jalgaon district collector Ayush Prasad.
