This initiative, coordinated by Forum Virium Helsinki, seeks innovative solutions to tackle key urban challenges in: Data, Mobility, Smart Governance, Clean Energy Transition, Built Environment, Health & Wellbeing. Smart City Challenge 2024 finalists working on their business strategies! 🤓 Since strong commercialization potential is a key success factor for our pilot projects, we organized a dedicated training session on commercialization and business models. The session was led by Lauri Antalainen – President of EstBAN, experienced startup investor, and mentor. As a business evaluator for our pilot projects, Lauri shared invaluable insights to help teams refine their strategies and bring their solutions closer to market. During the training, we: ✅ Identified customer segment needs and challenges ✅ Explored suitable business models ✅ Analyzed market opportunities ✅ Refined value propositions With these insights, the teams are now better prepared to bring their solutions to market. Last week, we organized "Innovation Day" to bring together representatives from Estonian ministries and other key stakeholders responsible for municipal development, urban planning, sustainability, energy efficiency and the transfer of research into business. Throughout the day, we presented our research-based solutions and shared updates on our pilot projects. We also discussed how these solutions can support the development of Estonian cities and municipalities and how our work aligns with national and regional goals. A winter day well spent! ⛄ This year, our team winter event took us to the beautiful Sagadi Manor. Between enjoying the elegant interiors, we had a short seminar on FinEst Centre’s ideas and plans for this year, tested our nature knowledge. Can you tell mink’s fur from beaver’s? Or recognise the sound dried of birch leaves? What about how to measure the length of an oak tree without any measuring devices? We knew some of it before but this nature game really tested the knowledge we don’t use on a daily basis. And of course, we wrapped up the day with great food, sauna, and conversations. A perfect way to connect with our very international and mostly virtual team, meeting not behind the screens - until next time! #FinEstTeam #WinterDays #FunandGames
