  • Meet our very own Tony Stark (but with way more circuit boards) - Verner, our electronic hardware engineer! When Verner isn't tinkering with circuit boards or testing designs, he's hard at work solving complex problems to make our technology even better. ⚡ 🔧 What are you currently working on at SafeDrone Systems? "I am currently in the process of assembling electronics for the third prototype of the PRS. So a lot of soldering and testing being done at the moment. At the same time, I'm identifying areas for improvement and additional functionality to incorporate into the next prototype." What's been your favorite "Eureka" moment so far? "It occurred to me when I looked back on the first prototype and realized how far we had come. This realization empowered me to dive deeper into topics that were once unfamiliar to me, giving a major boost to my can-do attitude." Looking ahead, what are you most excited about for the future of the PRS project? "I'm really looking forward to what we will achieve in the next 6 months. I think the learning curve has been steep for all of us, to me that signifies major leaps toward our goal await." When Verner is involved, we know we’re on the right track. 😎

  • 🎉 Big Milestone for SafeDrone Systems 🎉 This summer was an eventful one for SafeDrone Systems. After all the research and testing different ideas, we finally built a working parachute rescue system (PRS) prototype. 🚁🪂 This video is the result of getting every component in the systems to function as intended and it took a lot to get to this point: ▪Creating a test platform ▪Designing and building the deployment system ▪Manufacturing our own parachute ▪Developing an Automatic Trigger System (ATS) to deploy it at the right moment ▪Creating a communication system between the PRS and drone pilot We started this project with very little knowledge of any of these sytems, but this 15-second clip shows that we are now able to understand them well enough to implement them in our design and get them to work together. Thanks to the first successful tests, we have been able to improve the design and are steadily moving towards a PRS that can safely bring down a single rotor drone in an emergency. We still have a lot of work to do before we get there, but our team is prepared for the challenge! 🙌 More to come soon... #DroneInnovation #AerospaceEngineering #SafetyFirst #ParachuteRescueSystem #TechInProgress #EngineeringJourney

  • Well done TrackDeep for opening up the sky for drones in Estonia! 👏

🌍✈️ TrackDeep project: Determining the location of unmanned aerial vehicles in the urban space of Tallinn - tested within the framework of the #TestinTallinn project! 👇 Watch the video where TrackDeep's founder and CEO, Andy Viikmaa, discusses the importance of ensuring safe airspace sharing between conventional aviation (airplanes and helicopters) and drones, learn more about the project. 💡TrackDeep is one of the winners of the #tallinnovation competition, which was organized in collaboration with Tehnopol and the City of Tallinn. #smartcity #tallinnovation #testintallinn

  • Meet our very own Mark Rober, also known as our project manager, Crismar. When he's not leading meetings, he's busy writing code. 👨💻 Let's get to know Crismar a bit better... What are your main responsibilities at SafeDrone Systems? "Aside from project management responsibilites, I work hands-on with the electronics and develop the software used in our parachute recovery system (PRS)." What are the biggest challenges you've faced in your role as a project manager? "Finding out the best design for the whole system, i.e the parachute and the mechanical/electronic solutions." SafeDrone Systems has now been up and running for 408 days - what has been accomplished in that time? "Overall, we have developed multiple prototypes and carried out various tests. It has not always been smooth sailing, but that’s a part of the process. In my eyes, the biggest achievement so far is the skills and know-how that the team has obtained during the development of our PRS. Can’t wait to see what we can pull off next." Under Crismar's leadership, SafeDrone Systems will continue to achieve new milestones in the drone safety industry. 🏆

  • What happens when 6 students from the Estonian Aviation Academy put their heads together? 🤔 SafeDrone Systems - a student project focused on making the skies safer for all drone operators. Our mission? Crafting a versatile autonomous parachute recovery system compatible with both helicopter and multirotor type UAVs. The key challenge we are addressing is to reduce the risks of operating a drone. This will allow operators to fly in higher risk areas (cities, large concentrated crowds). As a result, companies using unmanned aerial vehicles for commercial purposes will have greater opportunities to pursue their business objectives. If you keep an eye on what we're up to, you'll see a module in one of our future posts. 😉 Together, let's soar to new heights of achievement! 🏆 #UnmannedAircraft #SafetyFirst #Innovation
