On Tuesday, I&D attended German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK Egypt)‘s event ”New Tax Facilities: A New Era Between Investors and Tax Authority”. The event featured key insights from H.E. Ahmed Kouchouk, Egypt’s Ministry of Finance, Egypt. He shared the upcoming incentives and facilities available to investors as well as the Ministry’s vision to continuously enhance the regulatory environment for investors and entrepreneurs.  We extend our appreciation to H.E. Jürgen Schulz, the German Ambassador to Egypt and the AHK Egypt for hosting this insightful event. Regulatory transparency is one of the key drivers for increasing foreign direct investment. What does Trump’s re-election to office mean for Egypt?   Trump’s "America First" policies are set to continue shaping global trade and economic landscapes. While his focus on domestic economic revival, #reshoring industries, reducing US reliance on foreign markets and trade protectionism may benefit the US market, the ripple effects on global markets may present both opportunities and challenges. This is especially true amidst the #trade war between the US and #China, but also extends to affect neighboring countries like Mexico and Canada, as well as its allies the European Union and the United Kingdom, and finally the Middle East.   For #Egypt, a country strategically located at the crossroads of three continents, the shifting global dynamics compel us to question what Trump’s re-election means for Egypt. In a landmark development for Egypt's #competition policy, Law No. 175/2022 introduces pre-merger control to the Egyptian Competition Law. This marks a significant milestone, bringing Egypt closer to global best practices in regulating economic concentrations, a concept that goes beyond traditional M&As.   Although M&As play a pivotal role in driving foreign direct #investment and fostering economic growth, they can still have anti-competitive effects, particularly by creating dominant undertakings, raising barriers to market entry by new competitors, etc. For these reasons, the amendments primarily aim to address potential anticompetitive risks while promoting pro-competitive investments. New #developments in Egypt’s regulatory framework. Decree No. 3504/2024 amends certain provisions of the executive regulations for d reconciliation in building violations.
