Port training institute (PTI) was established on 26th of July 1982 as an affiliated institute to the Arab Academy for Science, technology & Maritime Transport (AASTMT). Port Training Institute seeks to transfer international expertise to meet all the training needs of companies and seaport communities to lead innovation in Egypt, the Middle East and Africa, through the implementation of an ambitious training plan.

  • On November 28, 2024, Port Training Institute, AASTMT hosted a webinar organized by PLIKA - Port Logistics International Knowledge Academy in collaboration with Union for the Mediterranean The event, held on the sidelines of #Mediterranean_Day, aimed to foster cooperation and #sustainability in the region. The webinar commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Eduard Rodes, President of the PLIKA Academy. Subsequently Prof. Alaa Morsy , Dean of Port Training Institute and Vice President of #PLIKA, delivered a speech, emphasizing the significance of Mediterranean Day and the need for regional cooperation. He highlighted the importance of sustainable development and the role of institutions in achieving this goal. Mr. Joan Borrell, Deputy Secretary-General for higher education and scientific research at the Union for the Mediterranean provided an overview of the Union's activities, focusing on education, research, and addressing economic and climate challenges faced by Mediterranean countries. A panel discussion, moderated by Prof Morsy, led to several recommendations, including: 🔵 Enhancing student exchange programs among Mediterranean countries and organizations. 🔵Strengthening the role of the PLIKA Academy in regional cooperation initiatives. 🔵Promoting circular economy concepts among students. 🔵Developing green skills for port and logistics workers. These recommendations aim to foster innovation, cooperation, and sustainable development within the Mediterranean region. #PLIKA, in collaboration with the Union for the Mediterranean, is committed to implementing these recommendations in the coming period

  • AASTMT Continues Active Participation in COP29, Baku, Azerbaijan Under the distinguished patronage of H.E. Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, League of Arab States - General Secretariat, H.E. General Kamel El Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, and H.E. Professor Ismail Abdel Ghaffar, President of Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport , Professor Alaa Morsy, Dean of Port Training Institute, AASTMT and Maritime Research and Consultation Center at AASTMT, participated in the International Green Ports Forum held on November 20, 2024, at the League of Arab States pavilion in the Blue Zone, on the sidelines of COP29 Azerbaijan. The forum, titled "Recent Innovations in Developing Green Ports: Advancing Climate Change and Promoting Sustainable Development," was inaugurated by Dr. Mahmoud Fathallah, Director of Environment and Water Resources, Housing and Disaster Reduction Department at the League of Arab States, and moderated by Dr. Nuria Sanz, UNESCO Regional Director and UNESCO Representative to the League of Arab States. Professor Morsy's presentation, "Climate-Resilient Port Infrastructure," highlighted the significance of infrastructure within the World Ports Sustainability Program (WPSP) by International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH) , underscored the climate change threats to port infrastructure. He presented best practices in resilient infrastructure and concluded with a roadmap and recommendations for achieving climate-resilient port infrastructure. The forum featured distinguished participants, including Prof. Ali Fahmy, Dean of Artificial Intelligence College at AASTMT, Mr. Juvenal Shiundu former Director of the Technical Cooperation Committee at International Maritime Organization Eng. Francesc Carbonell , Transport Director at Union for the Mediterranean , and Dr. Puay Guan Goh , Associate Professor at the National University of Singapore The forum was also attended by Dr. Mustafa Rashid, Assistant to the AASTMT President for Arab Affairs, and Dr. Kareem Tonbol Dean of Scientific Research and Maritime Affairs at AASTMT. These events underscore the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport's pivotal role in advancing the maritime transport and logistics sectors within the Arab region and Egypt. By actively participating in such forums and promoting green port initiatives, AASTMT reaffirms its commitment to sustainable development and environmental stewardship

Prof. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar, President of Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport , Prof. Alaa Morsy Morsy, Dean of Port Training Institute, AASTMT and Maritime Research and Consultation Center, delivered a keynote address at the International Education Forum held on Monday 18th November, 2024 at the League of Arab States pavilion in the Blue Zone on the sidelines of COP29 Azerbaijan The forum, titled "The Role of Educational Institutions in Advancing Climate Change Research and Human Capacity Building: Arab and International Insights from COP29" explored the pivotal role of education in mitigating climate change. Prof. Morsy's presentation, "Recent Developments in Education and Scientific Research in Light of Climate Change: The Experience of AASTMT," highlighted the academy's commitment to sustainable development and its role in addressing climate change through education and research. He discussed the challenges faced by climate change education in achieving sustainability and outlined the opportunities for ESD. Furthermore, he showcased AASTMT's achievements in education and research, emphasizing the academy's commitment to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals and its role in supporting global efforts to combat climate change. The forum was inaugurated by Dr. Mahmoud fathallah; Director of Environment Department & Director of Water Resources, Housing and Disaster Reduction Department – The League of Arab States, and Moderated by Prof. Mostafa Rashid; Assistant to AASTMT President for Arab Affairs Esteemed speakers, including Dato' Captain Razali bin Yaaqoub, Chairman and Founder of Netherlands Maritime University College (NMUC) , Mr. Antonio Torregrosa Maicas , Managing Director of Fundación Valenciaport , and Dr. Nazry Yahya , CEO of SHH Group, shared their valuable insights and expertise at the forum.   • Steering the Future of Maritime Excellence: Board Meeting of PTI and MRCC A distinguished gathering of maritime industry leaders convened on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at the prestigious Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport in Abu Qir. The Board of Directors of Port Training Institute, AASTMT (PTI) and Maritime Research and Consultation Center (MRCC) met to discuss strategic initiatives and chart a course for future growth. Chaired by His Excellency Lieutenant General Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development, Minister of Transport, and Minister of Industry, the meeting was attended by prominent figures including Mr. Walid Jamal El-Din, Chairman of Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) , and Prof. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar Ismail Farag, President of AASTMT Prof. Alaa Morsy, Dean of PTI and MRCC, presented a comprehensive overview of PTI's and MRCC's remarkable achievements. He highlighted the delivery of world-class training and Consultation services to clients across the Arab and African regions. Additionally, PTI's strategic partnerships with global entities like Valenciaport foundation, Port of Marseille Training Center- France , APEC- Belgium, QHVTC - China and being the regional center for MEDPorts Association have enabled the transfer of cutting-edge maritime expertise to Egypt, the Arab world, and Africa. Recognizing PTI's pivotal role in shaping the future of maritime transport, Lt. Gen. Kamel El-Wazir commended the efforts of PTI and MRCC in developing highly skilled professionals. As PTI and MRCC continue to elevate standards of maritime education and research, they remain dedicated to empowering the next generation of maritime leaders and driving sustainable growth in the region.

  • Participation of Prof. Alaa Morsy in The MEDports Association Training Program: Professor Alaa Morsy, Dean of Port Training Institute, AASTMT and Maritime Research & Consultation Center (MRCC), delivered a presentation at the inaugural training program organized by MEDPorts Association in collaboration with Autoridad Portuaria Bahía de Algeciras - Port of Algeciras and Universidad de Cádiz Spain. The program, held on October 15, 2024, focused on "Decarbonization: Ports Towards Transformation to New International Standards." Prof. Morsy's participation aligns with PTI's strategic objective of expanding cooperation with the association and fostering stronger ties with Mediterranean ports. His presentation, titled "Standards for Sustainable Ports," highlighted PTI's commitment to promoting sustainable practices within the maritime industry. The training program attracted 35 participants from various Mediterranean countries, including Malta, Spain, Morocco, Tunisia, Latin America, and Italy. In his welcoming address, H.E Prof.Ismail Abdel Ghaffar Ismail Farag expressed his delight at hosting the distinguished guests and emphasized the significance of this meeting as a platform for bringing together esteemed leaders in the field of Egyptian and Chinese maritime transport. He noted the longstanding and fruitful bilateral relations between Egypt and China, which have witnessed significant growth in recent years. Prof. Alaa Morsy highlighted Port Training Institute's successful partnerships with Chinese institutions, focusing on knowledge transfer and collaboration in port logistics. He emphasized the significance of the cooperation between t Port Training Institute and Qingdao Harbour Vocational Technical College (QHVTC) H.E Admiral Nehad Shahin, representing the Egyptian Ministry of Transport, expressed his welcome and support for the Academy's efforts to deepen Egyptian-Chinese relations. The international conference was held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre, Malaysia, organized in collaboration with Netherlands Maritime University College (NMUC) ) Malaysia and STC Next Rotterdam, along with Port Training Institute, AASTMT at Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport sponsored by Misurata Port & Free Zone المنطقة الحرة بمصراتة and TLP TERMINAL SDN BHD. Prominent figures in ports, maritime transport, logistics, international trade, investments, and logistics attended this conference and its accompanying exhibition. During the event, distinguished presentations and innovative displays were showcased across various sectors, exchanging successful experiences and discussing the latest developments in ports and logistics. Engineer Mohamed Abdel Aziz , Head of Research and Development Department,Port Training Institute, presented a research paper titled "Modern Inovations for green Transtion" on the second day. On the third and final day, Professor Alaa Morsy, Dean of Port Training Institute and Maritime Research and Consultation Center, presented a research paper titled "Modern Innovations for Capacity Building. and the research paper was praised by all attendee. The sessions concluded with several recommendations to support and develop maritime logistics and port operations. The conference received great acclaim from participants for its scientific value and knowledge sharing in the field of ports and logistics. In conclusion, speakers and participants were honored for their significant contributions to the success of the conference and exhibition, recognizing their important role in enhancing the ports and logistics sector. Finally, the date for the second edition of the conference was announced, scheduled to take place from September 9-11, 2025, at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre in Malaysia 🇲🇾.

  • The International Conference on Maritime Logistics and Ports (ICMLP) in Malaysia commenced with a spectacular opening. Successfully launched on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, The International Conference on Maritime Logistics and Ports (ICMLP)the conference is organized by Netherlands Maritime University College (NMUC) in collaboration with Port Training Institute, AASTMT and STC Foundation for Ports and Logistics Training in Rotterdam, under the sponsorship of Misurata Port & Free Zone المنطقة الحرة بمصراتة and TPL Terminal. PTI's participation in organizing the conference follows the directives of Prof. Ismail Abd El Ghaffar Ismail Farag, President of Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport , aiming to enhance cooperation with major international institutes, universities, and institutions in the field of ports, logistics, and maritime transport. The conference opening was attended by officials from various Malaysian entities, as well as high-level officials from numerous international institutions in the ports, maritime transport, and logistics sectors worldwide, alongside members of diplomatic corps and consuls of several foreign countries. Prof. Alaa Morsy , Dean of Port Training Institute and Maritime Research and Consultation Center, delivered a speech at the conference opening, highlighting the event's significance, its agenda, and the deep partnership between Port Training Institute at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport and international maritime entities, aimed at serving the maritime transport and ports sectors through international conferences and workshops. Following the opening session, conference sessions commenced, with Prof. Morsy, also chairing one of the sessions on the first day. A constellation of researchers and specialists in the field of logistics and ports participated in presenting research papers. PTI is represented by a delegation led by Prof. Morsy. The conference activities continue over three days from September 3-5, 2024, at the Putrajaya International Convention Center in Malaysia 🇲🇾.   • Professor Alaa Morsy , Dean of Port Training Institute, AASTMT and Maritime Research and Consultation Center AASTMT, will deliver the keynote address at the inaugural exclusive webinar of PLIKA - Port Logistics International Knowledge Academy The event is scheduled for Thursday, September 12, 2024. Professor Morsy in his capacity as Vice President of PLIKA will deliver a presentation titled "Digital Solutions for Sustainable Port Operations," where he will discuss key topics related to the role of digitization in port sustainability and how PLIKA can support the port community in implementing best practices in this area.
