With around 80% of global trade financed by some form of #tradecredit, the ability to distribute #tradefinance assets is key to liquidity, particularly in a market such as #Egypt. Today's global and increasingly complex #supplychains have brought with it changes in both the rules and role of #ECA-backed #exportfinancing. With key infrastructure projects often featuring developers, contractors and EPCs based in 'third countries' outside of their main #export and #import markets, this has increased focus on the importance of greater collaboration. #Egypt has sought to solidify its relationships with key trading allies, including the signing of a strategic partnership with the #EuropeanUnion focusing on values of equity, respect and trust. The country also anticipates potential benefits from being part of the African Continental Free Trade Area (#AfCFTA) with plans for implementation boosted by the Africa Trade Gateway (#ATG). Additionally, Gulf Cooperation Council (#GCC) countries have played a significant role in Egypt's economy, accounting for around 15% of foreign trade in the last decade, while expanding investments in key sectors as part of their diversification strategies. During #GTREgypt, trade finance experts explored the role of #digitisation in improving trade efficiency, focusing on enhancing customs processes through technology as part of a larger effort to develop logistics infrastructure.
