The #aviation industry is undergoing a historic transformation, reshaping not just conventional #airspace but the entire sky. From very low-level airspace to the higher altitudes historically untouched by traditional aircraft, the changes are unprecedented. This new paradigm requires #airnavigation service providers (ANSPs) to modernize rapidly, improve service quality, manage expanded and increasingly complex airspace, and address growing operational and cyber risks. Adapting to this evolution also demands innovative approaches to regulation, financing, and operational management. The integration of cutting-edge technologies like #AI and hyperconnected control systems will be essential. However, technology alone is not enough. Collaboration, innovation, and modernized financial and organizational models are critical to ensuring a resilient, efficient, and sustainable future for the industry. Our latest paper delves into these multifaceted challenges, including the convergence of traditional air traffic with new entrants like drones and higher airspace users, the urgent need to decarbonize aviation by 2050, and the increasing complexity of cybersecurity threats. We highlight the pivotal role #ANSPs play in this transformation and discuss why corporatization is essential for success in this dynamic environment. We were invited by Cranfield University to participate in two events, where we had opportunity to share our experience in the #Airport and #AirTrafficManagement (#ATM) industries as well as to participate in round-table with other industry leaders. First, our colleagues Alfonso Martinez Mata and Ignacio Romagosa Vías presented ALG’s project portfolio to the students of the Air Transport Management and Airport Planning MsCs. Alfonso presented a case study exploring the challenges of the ANS sector in the Caribbean, exploring solutions and lessons learnt across technical, operational and business perspectives. Additionally, we participated in the Careers in Consulting round-table, along with Cranfield Alumni from other consulting industry leaders. During the roundtable, Alfonso commented on his experience in ALG, the latest trends of the sector, including the progressive specialization of consulting firms in order to add value to their clients, and provided advice to MsC and MBA alumni wishing to enter the field.

Last week, Vladimir Coca, Aviation Principal in the Middle East attended the Bahrain International Airshow (#BIAS2024), as part of the delegation of Indra. The show reunited companies and experts in Aviation showcasing the latest developments in air transportation solutions in the region, such as Drones and AAM and new aircrafts. Indra presented to visitors its cutting-edge solutions in #AirTrafficManagement (#ATM) such as #UTM systems or latest advances in Navigation and Surveillance Systems. ALG is supporting Indra in several projects globally providing added value services for ANSP's and Airports requiring a turn-key solution for ATM modernization initiatives.

👨🏫 The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) invited us to participate in two Masterclasses where we had the opportunity to share our experience in the fascinating world of #airport operations and management. 💡 On one hand, we joined the 4th-year students of Airport Engineering in Professor Antoni Dolz Ripollés's class. Carlos Cuesta Simón, with contributions from Núria Alsina Pujol Alsina, delivered a session on "Performance monitoring for airport operations", highlighting how metrics and analysis are essential for optimizing #airportperformance. 🛩 Additionally, we participated in the Airport Business course of the Master's in Aeronautics with a specialization in Airports, invited by Professor Silvia Rodriguez Donaire. Pablo Posada provided in-depth insights into the "Commercial point of view of an airport", and together with contributions from Antonio Cabeza, they explored the challenges and opportunities in the commercial management of airport infrastructures, engaging with a diverse group of ERASMUS and local students. 👩🎓👨🎓 Thank you to #UPC for the invitation and to all the students for their interest and active participation. It is always a pleasure for ALG to share and learn together!

Africa’s growing container traffic and critical role in global trade are positioning African ports at the forefront of international commerce. With steady growth rates and infrastructure upgrades, the continent is poised to become a strategic trade hub. To seize this opportunity, however, challenges such as modernizing facilities, minimizing logistical bottlenecks, and meeting global standards must be addressed. In a recent analysis, ALG reviewed the top 40 African ports by container traffic volume, using TEU throughput data and United Nations growth rates from 2010 to 2022. In our latest blog, Asier Ruiz Gómez and Fernando Méndez Heredia explore these trends, challenges, and opportunities, highlighting the potential of Africa’s ports to drive regional growth and impact global trade. 🔗 Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/dCCCbRma #containertraffic #containerports #infrastructure #africa #logistics #tradetraffic #maritime

With the onset of the pandemic, some governments introduced fare reductions or free #publictransport initiatives to incentivize #publictransit use and reduce car dependency. These policies provided unique insights into the effects of fare reductions on ridership and modal split across various urban environments. In #Spain, for instance, the government’s initiative of subsidized rail and metro fares aimed to reduce car use and emissions. However, without complementary improvements in service quality and network coverage, the program had limited success. Similarly, in #Lyon, #Hasselt, and #Tallinn, studies revealed that fare reductions alone did not significantly deter car use; instead, they largely attracted existing transit and active-mode users. These findings underscore that fare subsidies alone may not be sufficient to shift commuters from cars to public transit. One standout example comes from #Lisbon, where the #Navegante integrated ticketing system, launched in 2019, combined fare reductions with improved network coverage and intermodal #connectivity. This holistic approach led to a noticeable increase in ridership and a reduction in #urbantraffic, illustrating the importance of a well-rounded, quality-driven strategy in promoting #sustainabletransit use. 🔗 Read the full article written by Pau Boix Solina, Ashlee Sprock, and Cesar Valero Mendoza and explore the impact of #farereductions on #urbanmobility choices: https://lnkd.in/dcHkzqhX
