¡Publicación del mes! 🚨 El estudio involucra 42 pacientes con enfermedad aórtica torácica hereditaria y 86 pacientes de un solo año, con y sin variaciones genéticas conocidas. Los resultados muestran una superposición considerable en la degeneración medial entre pacientes hereditarios y esporádicos. Sin embargo, aquellos con enfermedad hereditaria presentaron una degeneración significativamente mayor, mayor fragmentación de fibras elásticas y más acumulación de matriz extracelular mucoide. Además, los pacientes con válvula aórtica bicúspide mostraron puntuaciones más bajas de degeneración medial que aquellos con válvula tricúspide. Estos hallazgos sugieren que la degeneración medial podría ser un resultado común de diversos factores patogénicos. MARFAN SYNDROME: is prognosis related to sex? ✍ Dra Gisela T. leads REPAG registry and recently exposed the results of their research in the Spanish Cardiology Meeting #SEC24 ✍ Dr Fernando Cabrera-Bueno was the speaker and elegantly presented all data and evidence on sex-differences in presentation and prognosis ✍ N=442; 48,2 % ♀️ Variables related to free survival of aortic event: - Female sex 0.38 (0.27-0.55) p<0.001 - Age at diagnosis 0.90 (0.88-0.91) p<0.001 - Marfan Syndrome diangosis prior to event 0.07 (0.05-0.12) p<0.001 - Systemic Score 1.06 (1.06-1.12) p<0.024 ✍ Aortic elective intervention was more frequent in ♂️ 66.7% vs 52.8% ✍ Type A dissection was similar ♂️and ♀️ 26.7% vs 26.4% ✍ Type B dissection was more frequent in ♀️ 4.2% vs 15.3% These findings could suggest a less aggressive manifestation of proximal aortic disease in women with Marfan Syndrome.
