🌿 Day 2 of the 8th BeonNAT project General Assembly is underway, and today we’re diving into exciting workshops hosted by Instituto Politécnico de Bragança! The workshop on High-Value Bioproducts from Underutilised Biomass Resources and Bioresidues, organised by the #BeonNAT project, is an excellent platform for discussing the latest research, sharing breakthroughs, and fostering collaboration 🤝. From fibers, biochemicals, biochar, and bioplastics to composites and absorbents, this workshop explores innovative ways to transform bioresources into high-value products for the growing bioeconomy 🌍. Through the collaborative efforts of BeonNAT project and other projects like SUSTAINEXT project, FIBSUN, CisWEFE-NEX, #MIDAS, and Up4Health project, we’re advancing technologies and processes to unlock the potential of biomass while aligning with Europe’s goals for decarbonisation, circular economy principles, and sustainable development 🚀. Workshops like this are vital to aligning research, sharing insights, and driving innovation forward. Together, we’re shaping a sustainable future 🌟. #BeonNAT #Bioeconomy #Sustainability #Innovation #CircularEconomy #Decarbonisation #Collaboration #Bioproducts

Innovative value chains from tree and shrub species grown in marginal lands as a source of biomass for biobased industry
Sobre nosotros
The BeonNAT project seeks to demonstrate the viability of the use of marginal lands to source forest biomass for the production of high added value bio-products. As well as providing a source of biomass, the BeonNAT project will also contribute to protecting biodiversity and improve soil fertility and organic carbon stocks. In addition to providing excellent economic opportunities for Europe’s bio-based economy, it will also create new jobs in rural areas, helping reduce the risk of depopulation. This project receives funding from the #BBI and the #EU Research & Innovation Programme. Any related post reflect only the views of the project owner.

𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: 𝗥𝗼𝗼𝘁 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗶𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗘𝗹𝗺 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 📢Updates from BeonNAT's partners at CEDER-CIEMAT at the experimental plot in Lubia! The team delved into the root system of a Siberian elm (Ulmus pumila) planted in marginal soil in November 2021. Over just three years, this remarkable tree has developed roots nearly 3 meters long, with one extending to a depth of 1 meter, clearly in search of water. During this time, the plant has prioritized the growth of its underground system, seeking water and nutrients, resulting in a root structure that far surpasses its aerial system. A fascinating testament to nature's adaptability and the resilience of this species in challenging environments!
