📢 From October 17th to 19th, the XXVI Jornades de la XULA (Xarxa d'Unitats de Lípids i Arteriosclerosi) took place in Granollers. This annual event brings together experts in the field of lipids and arteriosclerosis with the aim of discussing the latest advances in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. The Sessions provided a unique space for exchanging ideas through various roundtable discussions, such as Roundtable 3, moderated by Àngels Pedragosa Vall from the Internal Medicine Service, Lipids Unit at the Consorci Sanitari de Terrassa focused on "Residual #CardiovascularRisk. Prevention beyond #LDL." Participants in this roundtable included: Núria Amigó, researcher at the IISPV, who spoke about triglyceride-rich particles and their relationship with cardiovascular risk. Miguel Cainzos-Achirica, MD MPH PhD, from the Preventive Cardiology Service at Hospital del Mar, who addressed the relevance of residual cardiovascular risk. Xavier Garcia-Moll Marimon, from the Clinical Cardiology Service at Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau, who focused on the multifactorial therapeutic approach to cardiovascular risk. We continue working to better understand the factors that contribute to cardiovascular risk and how we can go beyond traditional prevention approaches. 💡❤️ Read the full article at the following link https://lnkd.in/dFc6TUbG #Prevention #LowDensityLipoproteins

Metabolomics in Sports: A Key Tool to Optimize Performance and Recovery Metabolomics is emerging as a powerful tool to analyze the biochemical changes that occur in the body during physical exercise. It provides a deep understanding of how exercise impacts metabolism, opening new possibilities for personalizing training, nutrition, and recovery for athletes. 🏋️♂️ Performance Evaluation: Metabolomics can help identify key metabolic profiles, such as lactate, fatty acids, and BCAAs, optimizing the use of energy reserves and improving physical capacity. 🛡️ Injury Prevention: With biomarkers like Glyc-A, it's possible to detect low-grade chronic inflammation that could increase the risk of injuries, allowing for preventive adjustments in training load and diet. ⏱️ Recovery Optimization: Post-exercise metabolite analysis helps monitor fatigue, hydration, and muscle damage, enabling more effective personalized recovery strategies. 🍽️ Personalized Nutrition: Metabolomics allows the diet to be tailored to each athlete’s specific metabolic needs, improving performance and reducing nutritional deficiencies.

🌍 World Food Day: The Right to Food for a Better Life and Future This October 16th, the FAO reminds us of the importance of the "Right to Food, for a Better Life and Future." In a world where over 2.5 billion people are overweight, ensuring access to adequate and healthy food is key to combating obesity and metabolic diseases. This issue is particularly concerning in children and adolescents, where obesity has reached alarming levels: over 390 million young people worldwide were overweight in 2022. This situation not only impacts their current health but also increases the risk of developing metabolic and heart diseases at an early age. A study led by José Manuel Siurana, Head of the Cardiology Department at HM Hospitales Kids in Barcelona, with contributions from Anna Sabaté Rotés, Núria Amigó, Neus Martínez-Micaelo, Larry Arciniegas, Lucia Riaza, Eduard Mogas Viñals, Ferran Rosés i Noguer, Paula Sol Ventura, and Diego Yeste, reveals how advanced lipoprotein profiles obtained through NMR are linked to cardiac risk in adolescents with morbid obesity—even when conventional analyses appear normal! 🔬 Discover how, through #NMRMetabolomics and the #LiposcaleTest, we can identify these hidden risks early and prevent cardiovascular diseases.
