🇧🇷🌳 We are happy to announce a strategic partnership for the development of Carbon2Nature Brazil’s first project! 🌳🇧🇷 The collaboration will be with the ÇaraKura Institute, an NGO with over 15 years of experience in nature conservation, permaculture and environmental education.   Together, we will develop feasibility studies for a Blue Carbon project, which aims to transform degraded mangrove areas within the Complexo Lagunar in Santa Catarina.   Mangroves, considered a blue carbon ecosystem along with seagrass meadows and salt marshes, are one of the biggest carbon reservoirs on the planet, representing 25% of the total atmosphere carbon sequestration.   The loss of native coastal lagoon vegetation in southern Brazil has affected ecosystem health and brought economic losses to traditional communities.   In addition to recovering biodiversity and restoring the mangrove and salt marshes areas, the project includes many additional co-benefits, such as:   👉 Economic empowerment: supporting local activities, integrating the community as co-developers of the project and promoting the sustainable use of natural resources produced by the forest.   🦅 🐸 Boosting biodiversity: monitoring and preserving habitats, increasing the presence of wildlife that are essential for ecosystem conservation, such as migratory birds.   🌳 🌡️ Adaptation to climate change: planting a mix of native and resilient species, helping to manage water resources and prevent flooding.   👉 Climate change mitigation: Removal of CO2 equivalent from the atmosphere over the coming years.   We are excited about this partnership in search of the harmony of the planet! 💚🌱 #BlueCarbon #MangroveRestoration #ClimateAction #Brazil

  • We’re excited to share that we will participate in CONAMA 2024, organised by Fundación Conama! 🌍 Join us on Monday, December 2nd, at IFEMA Madrid, where our Spain & Portugal Director, ALVARO GARCIA MATEOS will present our project “El Monte Mondigo” during Technical Session 2: “Carbon Sinks and CO2 Capture” from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Monte Mondigo, a eucalyptus plantation in Ribadeo (Lugo), was devastated by a wildfire in 2023. Now, we’re turning this challenge into an opportunity with adaptive forest management focused on: 🌱 Transitioning to native species like Pinus pinaster, Quercus, and Betula. 🌱 Enhancing biodiversity through riparian corridors and multi-layered forests. 🌱 Financing sustainable forestry via carbon credits, fosucing on biodiversity and going beyond carbon. This project is more than reforestation - it’s a blueprint for climate action, biodiversity restoration, and economic innovation. We can’t wait to share our story and vision for a sustainable future. See you there! #ClimateAction #CarbonCredits #ForestryInnovation #Reforestation #CONAMA2024 #NBS

• 🌍 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲: Our emissions rose to 57GtCO2 (+1.3% from 2022). With current policies, we're on track for a 3ºC increase by century's end. 📉 𝗨𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗘𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗱: To keep warming within safe limits, emissions must fall by 7.5% yearly to hit the 1.5°C target and 4% annually to meet the 2°C target by 2030. 💰 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱: Reducing emissions requires investment to increase x6, redirecting existing capital flows toward low-carbon initiatives. This means an additional $0.9 to $2.1 trillion per year from 2021 to 2050, alongside a reform of the financial system and strong private sector involvement. For context, this shift would support a $110 trillion global economy. 🌳 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 & 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲: • 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 accounts for 7% of emissions and holds 19-20% of the mitigation potential through 2030-2035. • 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 emits 11% of global emissions with a 5% reduction potential. 📈 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲-𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: To unlock the vast conservation and regenerative agriculture potential - especially in developing countries (90% conservation, 80% regenerative agriculture potential) - we need $1.2 to $1.4 trillion annually by 2035. 🌱 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿: immediate investment, policy reform, and collaboration to steer towards a low-carbon future. Let’s act now for a sustainable tomorrow!
