📢 We’re excited to announce that our Managing Director, Miguel Angel Garcia Tamargo, will represent Carbon2Nature at COP29 Azerbaijan on November 21st! Miguel Angel will be presenting in the UNFCCC Digital Innovation Pavilion our Blue Carbon project, Posidonia, in Alcossebre, a NatureTech-based solution tackling one of the Mediterranean’s most pressing environmental challenges: the protection and restoration of Posidonia oceanica meadows. Why this matters: Posidonia meadows are vital carbon sinks, having a crucial carbon removal potential, capturing and storing CO₂ more effectively than terrestrial forests, playing a crucial role in mitigating climate change. 🌊 Yet, these ecosystems face threats like: 🌡️ Climate Change: Rising temperatures increase mortality. 🛳️ Marine Pollution & Anchoring: Damaging habitats and health. ⚒️ Coastal Development: Disrupting natural ecosystems. 💶Lack of Funding: Limited access to carbon markets and sovereign support. Our Solution: Through revegetation of Posidonia oceanica meadows and in collaboration with Sigeneris, we use innovative methods: 🔹Transplanting rhizomes using biodegradable structures. 🔹 Cultivating seedlings from collected seeds for long-term meadow restoration. 🔹 Leveraging cutting-edge digital MRV (Measurement, Reporting, and Verification) tools like satellite data, AI, and IoT to ensure accurate carbon removal reporting and improve restoration outcomes. Co-Benefits of Posidonia Restoration: ✅ Carbon sequestration & reduced greenhouse gases. ✅ Protection against coastal erosion & flooding. ✅ Improved water quality & marine biodiversity. At #COP29, Miguel Angel will advocate for the regulatory frameworks and funding mechanisms necessary to scale ocean-based carbon dioxide removal projects and achieve long-term ecosystem recovery. We’re proud to lead this critical work to fight climate change and restore marine ecosystems. 🐋 🪸🐠 Let’s connect if you’re interested in exploring partnerships or learning more about Posidonia and NatureTech solutions! #COP29 #BlueCarbon #Posidonia #ClimateAction #NatureTech #Sustainability #MarineRestoration #CarbonSequestration
