I was delighted to co-organize a conference about #NaturalCapital and #HumanCapital with Cedric Serret and Fabio Vitale from BNP Paribas. Thank you Fondation Prince Albert II de Monaco and MonacoTech and Monaco Economic Board (MEB) for your support! This morning’s panels were an inspiring journey through the multifaceted dimensions of natural capital: 1. Between COP 16 and COP 29, we examined the critical lessons and progress from past global efforts. These milestones serve as guiding lights for the future, particularly in addressing the cascading effects of climate crises on food security, migration, and international stability. We emphasized the necessity of ensuring financial and operational support for vulnerable nations, so they can transition effectively toward sustainability. 2. Natural Capital and Human Capital brought to life the deep interdependence between nature’s preservation and humanity’s well-being. We heard compelling perspectives on how local communities, grounded in Indigenous wisdom and supported by scientific advances, are central to crafting innovative, sustainable solutions. 3. Finally, Financing Natural Capital highlighted the opportunities in investing in ecosystems, not just as an ecological obligation but as an economic opportunity. We explored how well-targeted investments can generate shared value for local communities, strengthen biodiversity, and mitigate climate change while driving equitable economic development. Today, we reaffirmed a crucial truth: the challenges we face—whether in conserving biodiversity, addressing climate impacts, or fostering equitable growth—are interconnected. They require holistic, inclusive approaches. The voices of local communities and the integration of Indigenous knowledge must remain central to these efforts. Our conversations also underscored that collaboration is not just a necessity but a powerful tool for transformation. By uniting expertise, resources, and innovative thinking, we can turn challenges into opportunities and aspirations into reality. #Nature #Biodiversity #LocalCommunities #IndigenousKnowledge

The Euro-Mediterranean Economists Association - EMEA in collaboration with Clúster Salut Mental Catalunya, the Brain Capital Alliance, the Brain Economy Hub and the South Harbour Research & Development, organised the Panel Discussion: "𝗧𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗮 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻" at the #WeMindInternationalForum, on 27 November 2024. Closing the session Prof. Rym Ayadi underlined “Investing in brain capital is not just an investment in individual potential but a cornerstone for building a resilient, inclusive, and innovative economy. By integrating brain health, brain skills, science and collaborative ecosystems, Spain can contribute in shaping a future where human well-being and economic prosperity go hand in hand." From his side Dr. Harris Eyre highlighted: “The brain economy transformation can offer Spain a new model for competitiveness. Our brains are essential to the modern economy and acknowledge that people’s cognitive, emotional, and social capabilities are crucial drivers of both productivity and well-being. We would welcome collaboration with Spanish stakeholders to determine contextualized approaches to a brain capital dashboard, a brain economy systems change lab, and systemic investing”. Furthermore, Paweł Świeboda noted: "Given today’s socio-economic pressures and the rapidly changing demographic context, we have no choice but to take bold actions in policy and investment to orchestrate a brain-positive transition. Enabling role of technology is enormous but it has to be channeled to ambitious projects supporting scientific breakthroughs, creating the necessary data platforms and unlocking innovation in digital care."
