Biological Age and Cancer Risk After Stroke: New Insights from Research A new study by Hospital del Mar Research Institute - Hospital del Mar establishes, for the first time, a clear link between biological age acceleration and long-term cancer risk in stroke patients. The findings reveal that the risk of developing cancer increases by 6.6% for each additional year of biological age compared to chronological age. This highlights the importance of factors beyond genetics, such as lifestyle habits and environmental exposure, in influencing long-term health outcomes. Crucially, biological age is modifiable. By adopting healthier habits, one can slow biological aging and potentially reduce cancer risk after a stroke.
