A cutting-edge project focused on advancing autonomous Scanning Probe Microscopy (#SPM) through Artificial Intelligence to revolutionize life sciences and medical research. 👥 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘂𝗺: ✅ Led by Gabriel Gomila Lluch, Principal Investigator at #IBEC. ✅ With the participation of Eduard Torrents group at #IBEC ✅ 22 partners from 8 European countries. ✅ 16 young researchers to be trained in multidisciplinary techniques, #AI, and real-world applications in diagnostics, cell imaging, and drug development. 💡 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗜𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀: SPM4.0 aims to strengthen Europe’s leadership in nanoscopic imaging and foster adoption in academia, industry, and beyond. 🔬 🩺 Today, we co-hosted the 1st IBEC-VHIR Collaborative Translational Day, an exciting step toward bridging bioengineering and clinical research to accelerate new diagnostic and therapeutic solutions. ▶️ This event, part of IBEC’s #SeveroOchoa programme, brought together researchers and clinicians from #IBEC and the Vall d’Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR) - Vall d'Hebron Institut de Recerca. 🌍🤝 Building Bridges Through Science at the #ScienceÑL Congress! ▶️ Today, Josep Samitier Martí, Director of #IBEC, joined #SCIENCEÑL, the 1st Spanish/Dutch Scientific Congress. ▶️An inspiring initiative fostering collaboration between Spain and the Netherlands. 🗣️ As a speaker in the "Emerging Trends in Biomedicine" roundtable, Samitier contributed to discussions on the latest innovations in biomedicine, alongside leading experts from both countries. ▶️ At #IBEC, we are proud to have a longstanding collaboration with the ICMS - Institute for Complex Molecular Systems (ICMS) at Eindhoven University of Technology. ▶️ Since 2018, this partnership has been advancing research in molecular systems, bridging disciplines, and connecting scientists across borders. ▶️ Overall, this event is a powerful reminder of the importance of international partnerships to address global challenges.

🏅 Three #IBEC researchers selected in the #CaixaResearch 2024 call to lead health research projects 🧑🔬 Xavier Trepat, XAVIER FERNÀNDEZ-BUSQUETS, and Benedetta Bolognesi will lead pioneering projects to advance research in #cancer, #malaria, and #ALS. ➡️ Benedetta Bolognesi’s project focuses on mapping genetic mutations in the SOD1 protein, associated with #ALS. 🗺️ 🧬This map will help predict whether specific mutations cause ALS, leading to improved diagnosis and new treatment options. ➡️ XAVIER FERNÀNDEZ-BUSQUETS is working on new drugs to combat #malaria by targeting protein aggregation essential for the survival of the #Plasmodium parasite. 🦟 🦠This strategy addresses growing drug resistance in malaria treatment. ➡️ Xavier Trepat’s project replicates the microenvironment of colorectal cancer on a chip, alongside a digital twin to simulate immune response. 💻 🩺 This model could pave the way for more personalized #cancer treatments using innovative #immunotherapies. 📌 💬 Link to the news in the comments! ----- CAT ----- 🏅 Tres investigadors de l'IBEC seleccionats en la convocatòria #CaixaResearch 2024 per liderar projectes de recerca en salut. 🧑🔬 Xavier Trepat, Xavier Fernàndez-Busquets i Benedetta Bolognesi lideraran projectes pioners per avançar en la recerca en #càncer, #malària i #ELA. ➡️ El projecte de Benedetta Bolognesi se centra en el mapa de mutacions genètiques de la proteïna SOD1, associada a l’#ELA. 🗺️🧬 Aquest mapa ajudarà a predir si les mutacions causen ELA, millorant el diagnòstic i obrint la porta a nous tractaments. ➡️ Xavier Fernàndez-Busquets treballa en nous fàrmacs per combatre la #malària, centrant-se en els agregats proteics essencials per a la supervivència del paràsit #Plasmodium. 🦟🦠 Aquesta estratègia permet afrontar la resistència creixent als fàrmacs antimalàrics. ➡️ El projecte de Xavier Trepat replica el microambient del càncer colorectal en un xip, amb un bessó digital per simular la resposta immune. 💻🩺 Aquest model podria facilitar tractaments més personalitzats per a #càncer a través d’innovadores #immunoteràpies. 📌💬 Enllaç a la notícia als comentaris!
