The Institut Català de Nanociència i Nanotecnologia (ICN2) is dedicated to advancing knowledge, materials, and devices across three domains: 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡, 𝐞𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐂𝐓. It specializes in the nanoscale, continually uncovering new properties, interactions, and practical applications for everyday life. 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐒𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐨 𝐎𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐚 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝟑 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 The institute was first recognised as a Centro de Excelencia Severo Ochoa in 2014 by the Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades. This prestigious distinction was awarded again in 2018 and once more in 2023. ICN2 is supported by the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), where it is based. Additionally, ICN2 is a CERCA and ACER center and a founding member of the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST).

🗣️ El pasado 16 de noviembre tuvo lugar el #BCNspiracy 2024 en CosmoCaixa, un evento de divulgación que busca acercar la 𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚 al público general. 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐧 𝟑 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐝𝐞𝐥 𝐈𝐂𝐍𝟐: 🔷 La Dra. Mary Cano presentó la tecnología de micro y #nanoencapsulación, sus beneficios y aplicaciones en alimentación, como la mejora de sabores o la absorción de nutrientes. 🔷 La Dra. Maria Soler habló de los biosensores ópticos para diagnosticar enfermedades, detectar bacterias resistentes a #antibióticos o realizar cribados de infecciones. 🔷 El Dr. Giulio Rosati abordó la impresión por inyección de tintas nanofuncionales para fabricar #biosensores sostenibles para la agroalimentación. 📖 𝗡𝗮𝗻𝗼𝗧𝗲𝗿𝗺𝘀 Series 🤔 Sometimes we talk about #MOFs, like in this news piece https://lnkd.in/dggsZ2q9 but what are they❓ 🔬 MOFs (#MetalOrganicFrameworks) are #PorousMaterials formed of metal ions connected by organic molecules called ligands, creating tangled 3D networks. 🚀 The main current applications of MOFs are energy and gas storage, and catalysis. But they're also emerging in #nanomedicine. 💊 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐌𝐎𝐅𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐃𝐫𝐮𝐠 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲? 🔷 MOFs can absorb and protect medication from degradation, releasing it in a 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱, 𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗱 way to reduce side effects and improve efficacy, ideal for precision treatments like cancer therapy.
