  • 🚗 The automotive industry is one of the largest users of Natural Fiber Composites (NFC). However, these materials are typically used for vehicle interiors, while composites used for bodywork are normally synthetic fiber composites.    Bcomp Ltd. demonstrates in this video that it is also possible to make high performance bodywork parts with Natural Fibre Composites such as those manufactured for this Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 CS MR, in which Bcomp claims to have achieved the same weight and stiffness as a thin-walled monolithic carbon fiber layup while reducing the CO2 footprint from cradle to gate by up to 85%. • Can you imagine if cars suddenly cut their CO2 emissions by 16% ❓   This is what would be achieved according to a study by the Japan Carbon Fiber Manufacturers Association if cars were equipped with elements made of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastics (CFRP).    🚗 This would make a normal car 30% lighter, which in an estimated life cycle would generate 16% less CO2 emissions 🌍 Do you think the automotive industry will introduce #composites in all its models❓ Or will they be reserved for the top of the range models❓   Swipe right and tell us in the comments 👇

  • 📣MC Classics 📣 Have you ever wondered what happens when you record the failure of a composite material (aka shit hitting the fan) at 10 MILLION frames per second ❓ 👀 The video illustrates the breakage of a carbon fiber reinforced specimen by a Shimadzu Scientific Instruments high-speed tensile testing machine. The CFRP fractures instantaneously at the limit load, so a recording speed of 10 million frames per second is required to capture the fracturing process in detail. 🤯 This slow-motion gives us insane insights into the failure of composite materials! Amazing technology! 🤩

  • 🏎️ Natural Fiber Composites (NFC) have an infinite number of applications, but surely one of the most surprising is to be part of the Front Impact Absorbing Structure (FIAS) of a racing car.    YCOM and Bcomp Ltd developed the world's first crash structure made with NFC, showcasing its feasibility and analyzing its advantages. Among the initial benefits identified were a reduced CO2 footprint and the absence of sharp debris, among others.   Source: Bcomp Ltd. Youtube

  • 🚲 #Carbonfiber is highly valued in #bicycle manufacturing for its excellent strength to weight ratio.   😮 In this video from TIME Bicycles we can see that cutting edge technology can be combined with the purest craftsmanship of the most traditional professions in which personal skill and experience play an essential role to ensure the success of the products.   You can see how they combine what Time Bicycles call Braided Carbon Structures with Resin Transfer Molding (RTM) to shape the frames that they have been manufacturing from France for the whole world since 1987.   Thank you Time Bicycles for such a nice video for any composites lover! 😍

  • ☘️ Natural fiber #composites (NFCs) have very attractive qualities, and no one doubts the potential for them to be used on a massive scale in the future.   However, they have yet to overcome some challenges that mean that the industrial uses in which they are employed are not yet as numerous as they could be, although there is a lot of research underway to make this happen as soon as possible 👩🔬   Here we bring you 7️⃣ of the most popular NFCs and their main characteristics.   What do you think? Will the future belong to synthetics, NFCs or both?   Tell us in the comments 👇

  • We can't start the year without one of those time-lapse resin infusions that we love so much, and this one certainly has something special 😎   It's not very common to see people walking on top of the piece being made, but the size of this huge 50-foot ship ⛵makes it necessary to walk on top of it to make sure everything is working as it should during the resin infusion.   👏 Kudos to those responsible for the success of the operation as any mistake on such a large piece can have catastrophic consequences.   Source: Duroplastic Youtube

  •  🏎️ 🏁 Managing Composites is Heading to Autosport International in Birmingham! We’re beyond excited to announce that our team will be attending Autosport International this January 9th, 2024! This isn’t just any trade fair it’s a premier event where the world of #motorsport converges with the latest in engineering and technology. For us at Managing Composites, it’s especially significant. Many of our team members come from the motorsport sector, and this event perfectly aligns with our expertise and passion for pushing the boundaries of composite materials. This is a unique opportunity to connect, exchange ideas, and explore groundbreaking advancements shaping the future of motorsport and #composites. Let’s Connect! If you’re attending, don’t hesitate to reach out: Pablo Viana  📩 pviana@managingcomposites.com Mathew Rutt 📩 mrutt@managingcomposites.com Let’s make the most of this incredible event. • 📣 First When The Shit Hits The Fan of 2025 📣   Resin Infusion may seem a very easy method to make parts with composite materials.    It is a technique that allows us to achieve very professional results... if we control many variables to perfection. Although its level of difficulty is not high, it is a complex method in which many factors are involved and you need to have them all under control to get the highest quality parts.    This video is a very good example of some of the most common things that can go wrong when making a piece by resin infusion.     Have you ever had anything like this happen to you? Tell us about it in the comments 👇    Credit: LostAngelsCareerCenter Youtube

  • 🚀Let's talk about rockets going into space🚀.    One of the applications of composites with the most future potential is the manufacture of tanks intended to store liquid #hydrogen .      The aerospace industry has been using this fuel for years and in this video you can see how a group of engineers from NASA Marshall Space Flight Center and Boeing manufacture a super tank of more than 5 meters in diameter that later must be tested to propel a special rocket.    Credit: NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center Youtube
