🌊 MAR2PROTECT at WinterSchool2024: Advancing Water Sustainability 💧 This week, #MAR2PROTECT had the privilege of participating in #WinterSchool2024, a premier event dedicated to addressing pressing #WaterChallenges and showcasing cutting-edge research and solutions in the water sector. With 255 participants from 22 countries, the event was a hub of innovation. 🚨 New scientific article about #MolecularLiquids published! 🚨 We are excited to announce the publication of a new study that explores the efficient removal of #PerfluorooctanoicAcid (PFOA) using #FluorinatedIonicLiquids (FILs) and #GranularActivatedCarbon (GAC). This research provides new insights into the treatment of one of the most persistent environmental pollutants, offering promising solutions for improving water quality. 🌍🔬 In this study, fluorinated ionic liquids (FILs) were used for the first time to remove PFOA from aqueous solutions, opening up new possibilities for advanced water treatment technologies. This work is a significant step forward in the development of sustainable #WaterTreatment solutions and has the potential to contribute to protect us from environmental contamination.  You can read the full article on Elsevier  or on our website: 👉 https://lnkd.in/dgZVMJsb 👉

🚨 New scientific article about #FluorinatedGasesMitigation has been published! 🚨 We are pleased to announce the publication of a recent study that explores the potential of #BiomassDerivedCarbon for the separation of #FluorinatedGases with high #GlobalWarmingPotential. This research presents an innovative approach using waste biomass to produce biomaterials, which are then used in the separation process. 🌍🔬 This study not only demonstrates a sustainable and environmentally friendly method but also contributes to reduce the emission of harmful #FGases, which are known for their significant climate impact. Moreover, the work is aligned with the principles of the circular economy, aiming to improve the management of waste gases by reusing biomass and minimizing waste. The findings highlight the importance of developing sustainable technologies and solutions to beat #ClimateChange. Their cutting-edge sensors are crucial for Mar2Protect, our project dedicated to prevent groundwater contamination by monitoring real-time water pollutants. Together, we're advancing tools to protect our waters—essential for a sustainable future. 🚨 New scientific article published on Nature-Based Solutions (NBS)! 🚨 We are excited to share that our partner  CIIMAR , jointly with Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto , and Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade do Porto | FCUP  have collaborated on a study exploring the role of #SaltmarshPlants in the long-term retention of metals and their potential for #MetalRemoval. 🌿🔬 This research highlights the accumulation capability of saltmarsh plant as a #NatureBasedSolution. Emphasizing, in that way, the importance of using natural processes to address environmental challenges.
