Last week in Madrid, Matrix Renewables took part in the 3rd UNEF Green Hydrogen and Storage Summit, where our VP of Development, Europe & LatAm, Luis Miguel Alvarez, shared insights on the key regulatory and permitting challenges for energy storage projects in Spain. Luis Miguel highlighted the bottlenecks slowing down the deployment of hybrid and stand-alone storage projects, emphasizing the need for a more efficient permitting framework. He addressed potential regulatory improvements to accelerate storage deployment, including clearer urban planning criteria, streamlined coordination between government agencies, and more flexible permitting processes for hybrid storage projects. We appreciate the invitation from UNEF Spanish Solar Association and thank David Diez Marcos (Partner, WFW), Marcos Valles (CEO, Quinto Armónico), and Cristina Aparicio Maeztu (Managing Director of Energy Transition and Circular Economy, Government of Spain) for the engaging discussion. #RenewableEnergy #MatrixRenewables #EnergyStorage #BESS #GreenHydrogen
